Not sure why this nonsense keeps getting posted around the internet. There is not one statement from any reputable source stating this.
It is factually incorrect to state the flu is more deadly. This is fact.
Say what you want about peoples overreaction or etc. Doesn't matter. But when it comes to scientific information, stop spreading around factually incorrect information.

So.
Covid spreads faster, has more transmission rate than flu, and, as our citizens get older and have more civilization diseases like asthma, allergies, obesity etc leading to cardiovascular problems yes, it is a big problem.
But...in my country, so good prepared for it(diagnosis is 88h+ for coronavirus test results) and indolence at power, goverment, well, I'm happy. Maybe all old pr@@ finally find themselves in better place and youth will steer country straight instead of next damn Venezuela.

Yeah, then how come last flu season 38 people died over the course of 4 months, and yesterday 41 died from Corona on a single day? Not to mention the count is up to 150 within just 2 weeks.

People miss the fact that person can carry Covid19 for a few weeks without noticing it. Flu will screw you with fever in a few days.

So far only 1 guy of 89 has died and It is not the same situation as in Italy.
It remains to be seen what the coming week will be like. There seem to a lot infected, and a lot recovered as well.
The older are more vulnerable ,nothing you can do about that.

This will be a continuing issue throughout the year. Holdings events that pack in tons of people into a tight space is the perfect condition for spreading a virus, especially for something as contagious as this Coronavirus. Even with proper screening, the risks are too great.
As for the virus, from what I've read, the mortality rate is somewhere around 1% - 2%, although it could be lower. Initial reports in China/Wuhan were high but they were much lower in Korea, where there are more stringent screening and testing procedures (it's likely that many cases in China went unreported or are misdiagnosed). My guess is that it's more dangerous than most influenza viruses but nothing to lose sleep over.
Although I have no fears about contracting the virus, but it's important to limit its spread for the sake of those who are more vulnerable to it - the elderly and those in poor health. We all have a responsibility to look out for each other.

In the United States alone, at least 12,000 people have died from influenza between Oct. 1, 2019 through Feb. 1, 2020, and the number of deaths may be as high as 30,000 by the end of this flu season. Last season, 2018-2019 saw 63,000 deaths in the US.
H1N1 was far worse than COVID19. H1N1 came pretty close to killing me and i was 30 years old and in great health.
What pisses me off is how much time went by before other countries cut off travel to/from China and other places where COVID19 was spreading. I can't imagine how many more cases would be here in the US had Trump not cut off flights when the Dems were calling him a xenophobe for simply using common sense.
