Low stock is exactly what I mean by overextending.
Microsoft and Sony put in orders for the products they manufacture and AMD places orders for their graphics chips. They are mutually exclusive except they all order from TSMC. AMD did not reserve enough capacity (overextending) for graphics chips, but am pretty sure this was not a last minute surprise. Still that is no reason to increase the price to squeeze AIB's, and glad Microsoft or Sony did not do the same. Edit: Checked and apparently AMD places console orders directly with TSMC.

Isn't the question whether AMD charge what the product cost compared to what the AIB's wants to pay for them?

Usually, but in reality AMD can markup the price to whatever they want. They may decide to increase margins (profit) on each chip sold to AIB's. AIB's are just passing along the price increase. One day someone will spill the beans on exactly what happened with supply for AMD and Nvidia.

Which is exactly what it is. After talking to one AIB and two distributors during this week, to try and acquire more stock (which have worked before) one of them outright said what I'm relaying the other hinted at that situation without me even asking. The last one didn't really give any information as to why we couldn't get any of the cards we requested.
Ahhh, so we are supposed to believe your word, a random person on the internet, just like every conspiracy theory states "well i heard it from a very reputable person whom i shall not name or show evidence of!" Still a conspiracy theory. And even if you are telling the truth, it's still a conspiracy theory as literally none of your sources are from nvidia.

Availability in my neck of the woods with regard to the 6800 and especially the 6800XT is really bad, the distributer of Sapphire cards in my neck of the woods have just listed the price of their cards, certainly some mark up from MSRP (yes, I understand MSRP is for reference models) and I'm seeing about 926USD for a Sapphire Nitro+ OC Gaming Edition and 971USD for the Nitro+ OC Special Edition. The best part is, they say the allocation for my country is very small, and that we chould wait for the 2nd, or even the 3rd shipment. A shop staff I spoke to very confidently told me not to hold my breath, and that AMD cards would have better availability on January onward, if we're lucky that is. Frankly speaking, I don't know whether to laugh or cry at this whole 6800 series situation.

There is no "conspiracy" here. Not even mining counts THAT MUCH - this is the easy way out for these big companies to say again: "It's not on us, It's on some of you" - NO! It's simply the COVID crisis that generated high demand and coupled with logistical problems because of shipping restrictions, people at some factories going home because of quarantine and so on... It is true that for some time I believed the AMD joker who was ready to win the 10$ bet and I trusted AMD would not have the same troubles as Nvidia but it turned out to be a general problem. Anyway...it is not safe to upgrade now - this year is a bad year to build/major upgrade a PC - everything is overinflated, out of stock, etc - maybe 2021 will be a better year for this. ...and I also have my "seal of approval" for this: In conclusion 2020 is: https://i.imgur.com/VNSjAfz.png

This is the worst time to upgrade in years! I think I'm gonna buy a PS5 and delay the PC upgrade at least 6 months of not more... Good job nvidia and AMD, none of you deserve my money (I was willing to buy any of them) and you just made the consoles 100 times more attractive!
You act like you can just go to the store and pick up a PS5 or XSX? LOL. They are COMPLETELY sold out all over the world too and it's the exact same thing, people will be waiting for months to get one, unless you pre-ordered on launch day. STILL you need alot of LUCK to get one within Q2 2021

Sorry to break it to you, but PS5s are apparently also sold-out globally, according to Jim Ryan.

30 series is beginning to normalize, with more people able to get them during the shipment drops, considering the lower market interest in radeons in general, it shouldn't take long for everyone who wants a radeon to get one. and then those on the fence shopping for their first cards can start picking up what isn't going to the fanaticals and begin adjusting the market share.

Going wait it out myself, these price rises are beyond a joke.

By buying a console, you are technically giving AMD money. 😉

Wauv .. first you belittle me then you call me a liar, well done. Edit FYI the AIB source is a former colleague of mine and you have no idea where he got his info from (I do) and still you call this a conspiracy.

Make sure to watch that video of that long haired guy before buying PS5, it has some poor thermal design.

No worries, I have no intention of buying a console.

AMD gets peanuts from those APU sales. Sony and Microsoft are the true winners when it comes to console sales.
