Who needs plants when the prise is going up? Lets hope its not another prise fixing scam from the industry, as in many other fields.

I spent £285 on 4133mhz TridentZ because you don't scrimp and save on the motherboard or ram in any case.

At this point both AMD and Intel should step in. This is going to hurt both of them. Honestly current DDR$ prices are keeping me from jumping to a new system. If the prices go up more I know I will be putting off core upgrade for possibly another year.

Step in and do what? Keep in mind that Micron and Intel have a joint venture called IMFT. Did anyone read the article? This plant issue affects LPDDR4, which is used in phones.

Tomorrow Apple announces that in 1.5-2 years they will stop using Micron's memory and create their own type of memory.

They could step in and help get things back up and running. Intel's joint venture give them more incentive to do so. Let's revisit this in a few months and see if it effected standard DDR4? My bet is they will claim that they needed to off load production to other plants and that reduced availability therefore a price increase is needed to balance out the supply and demand.

Only 6%, my i7 6700k and Asus maximus VIII failed 3 weeks ago and i had to shut my system down so i should get ram cheaper.

Its not that simple to change a fab to produce a different product. From what i read on other sites this issue isnt that big of a deal.
