RealNC:

New features: * NVidia Control Panel is now fast. * Replaced GPU scaling with DSR for lower than native resolutions (0.x multipliers) for sharper upscaling instead of the blurry crap you get with GPU scaling. Then I woke up and realized this will never happen.
Damn you, for a second I actually believed in nV miracles.

Anyone with insight of what WDDM 2.4 is good for?
It is the new driver model for the upcoming Microsoft Windows 10 Redstone 4 update.

So new RTX tech is only for Volta cards and WIn10 RS4....

That's what's been announced so far isn't it? NVIDIA RTX using the tensor cores which are only found on Volta (And GTX 11xx I suppose?) thus the GPU requirement and then Windows 10 RS4 because it's a development extension for DirectX 12.x and Microsoft isn't really backporting features to earlier builds so thus why that's going to be required. Since the release notes specifically mention needing a development SDK I'm guessing this isn't even enabled in RS4 itself yet and will either come in a later cumulative update or perhaps RS5 in Autumn? (Unless this is strictly for development and the functionality is already exposed for the user in the existing runtimes.) EDIT: Right, tensor. Had to look the names up again just to be sure. (And I don't think the GTX 1100 series lineup has been fully announced yet or otherwise confirmed but I need to look that up as well.) Assuming Metro 2035 is the first release showcasing DX12 Raytracing API via NVIDIA RTX that's going to cut it pretty close if that is scheduled for a Autumn release too depending on what the requirements will be for enabling it both for hardware and software. (RS4 or RS5 primarily, GPU's will probably launch summer unless the feature is to be patched in post-launch or really only going to work with Titan V.) EDIT: Well still too early to say I suppose, will be interesting to see what 4A and NV announces later on closer to release. 🙂

For those of us already running RS4...what is in the new driver model? Even Wiki and MS don't have pages up for WDDM 2.4

Yay, R396.
Ha ha.....lucky guess... "RS4 is 1803 and will likely have WDDM 2.4 or whatever. WDDM 2.3 is RS3 which should release in about two weeks from now. "They" don't want to "claim" anything, they simply need a new driver supporting new WDDM features." dr_rus, Oct 2, 2017

I'm on 1803 so I'll give these a try later. Not really expecting any difference.

I've got the day off so I am going to be playing a few games with this new driver and I will report back my findings. I also have the free of crap installation up on my thread for anyone wanting to save bandwidth or just get the cut down package already made for them; plus the download from google drive might be better/faster for some people depending on how nVidia.com treats them. You can check it out here if you like.

I have to say this driver runs even smoother than the previous one just for a bit more, thats nice! In FC5 benchmark i gained 1 more fps in the mins thats not much but i'll take it. For me is a solid driver thus far! Also during actual gameplay everything is smooth and the frametimes are perfect. Moving to other games...

DirectX Ray Tracing support.

1 fps is within the margin of error. Also, were your frametimes not low with older drivers?
