Finally something new, got tired of R375 and kept returning to 376.09..
LOL same here, 376.09 are the best so far. Im gonna try these later though and return to 376.09 if isnt better.

So it was specific to steam Version then? Like I suspected,.. Well yeah I kinda knew it wasn't driver, but hey lately you never know by nvidia.. I have it, It says this under info https://s6.postimg.org/nkfsfiyg1/info.png I remember some talk about R378, and that R378 brings multicore for OpenGL (can boost apps, but not always) or something like that, maybe this is a part of that too? And how do I know if a game uses sparse textures? EDIT: ah its tiled resources / textures https://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/SparseTextures.html Guess it will be a trial and error thing..
For Gaming should we let this new option ON or OFF? Thanks

1.0.37 for WHQL @ http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us 1.0.39 for Developer @ https://developer.nvidia.com/vulkan-driver
It's 1.0.38 in the latest Vulkan beta. VulkanRT installed with the package is 1.0.39 but the device driver is 1.0.38.
Odd, dont have that option.
Maybe FAHBench would give some insight.
Seems to be Maxwell exclusive which makes me think that it may have something to do with async compute.

Well, from the help description it seems like something which should be "Off" in gaming but who knows...

For the 3rd time they have changed the watch dogs 2 sli profile. Now we have TCGR:Wildlands as well in the same profile

i tested the developer for 376.66 came with 1.0.39 in Doom & i checked with cmd vulkaninfo too. by the way, now debug mode is selected & grayed out.

I see they added a game profile for Skyrim Special Edition finally! However doesn't look like it does anything.. still no SLI support.

Lost my PhysX with this driver, in Windows 10.

if the apps/games related with opengl then turn it off but if not just turn it on.

I cant even see the profile?

Like I said its a trial and error, it needs testing one by one, especially those that use heavy compute - physx games could see it too (cuda async). https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/988593/unix-graphics-announcements-and-news/linux-solaris-and-freebsd-driver-378-09-beta-/ This was a R378 thing by Linux/openGL
Enabled OpenGL threaded optimizations by default in the driver. Refer to the "Threaded Optimizations" section in the "Specifying OpenGL Environment Variable Settings" chapter of the README for details. These optimizations will self-disable when they are degrading performance. As a result, performance should be unchanged for many applications, and increased for those that benefit from threaded optimizations and were not already forcing them enabled.
I tested only 3dmark and it didnt run so good. TimeSpy crashed by 2nd benchmark, not sure could be connected with Viber app- it uses gpu (seen msi ab OSD on it), maybe i'll test again, but its a pain to watch that demo every time lol 3dmark firestrike, lost 2000points or ~9-10fps by gpu score. http://www.3dmark.com/compare/fs/11513784/fs/11431168# Will see newest dx12 DeusEX.

It had a noticeable fps impact, otherwise it looked fine.. Capcom fixed with a patch 2-3 days later, now it runs almost the same as SSAO. At least 376 vs 376 driver. I can test again, still have the demo installed 🤓 EDIT: RE7 Demo runs the same, but that compute optimization has similar 9-10fps impact - gpu usage 100% in both cases.. @max settings, smaa, 2880x1620 SSAO 77.1 HBAO 71.6 compute opt. off SSAO 86.8 HBAO 80.3fps pre-patch hbao+ had ~25fps impact. edit2: DeusEX MD dx12 crashes with a error not enough resources (dx device hung) BatmanAK with physx ran fine, no unusual fps impact, minimal 1-2fps drop with it enabled. Rise of TombRaider dx12, same crash as DeusEX https://s6.postimg.org/oc5lc8wdd/rotr.png :infinity: So looks like its useless most of the time..

Interesting drivers. Thanks for the heads up. I don't have time now for some tests, but will do later.

Wans't HBAO+ Missing/Broken before?
Now i`m thinking if it worth the driver change now

OK, so it seems that having Optimize for Compute Performance enabled has a negative impact on gaming performance. The Division (Benchmark) DX11 OCP OFF - AVG FPS 90.5 DX11 OCP ON - AVG FPS 83.3 DX12 OCP OFF - AVG FPS 88.2 DX12 OCP ON - CTD Rainbow Six Siege (Benchmark) DX11 OCP OFF - AVG FPS 115 DX11 OCP ON - AVG FPS 107.5 The Witcher 3 (dense forest area in Skellige) DX11 OCP OFF - FPS 72 DX11 OCP ON - FPS 64

Did someone saw this? A guy at Nvidia forums posted about a huge performance drop at RE7 with this new driver comparing with the latest one, is it real? Someone tested? Old Guru3D benchmarks using 376.33: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/185647255028629505/273481000510554112/unknown.png New Guru3D benchmarks using 378.49: http://i.imgur.com/sl0TOfB.png
The benchmark is all over the place and it's nearly impossible to get two similar results even on one driver - says so in the benchmark post actually. Pay no attention to it.

I've just checked 376.71 and the device reported for GPU was 1.0.38. VulkanRT is 1.0.39 in it, yes. Debug mode seems to be bugged in CPL UI, it's checked and greyed out here as well, clocks are fine though so it's not actually working despite being checked.

Like several versions ago.

What's OpenGL have to do with compute?
:infinity: So looks like its useless most of the time..
Yeah so basically should be kept on off unless F@H or something.

Are any of these games heavy on compute though?? I kinda get the feeling that setting reserves some of the GPU for compute only? It would be nice if Nvidia actually explains what that setting actually does!
