I found an error in the installer. The installer does not install the driver for the Pci Bus. I had to install manually. If anything, here is the finished archive. Version 22.40.0.2
Is it supposed to do it? Many Adrenalin drivers don't install this driver (they don't include it). I have set DDU to not remove it when I do a driver update.

MPO bandaid driver atleast with dualscreen monitors enabled by looks of it. 1 monitor active MPO max planes : 3 and MPO flags supported 2 monitors active MPO max planes: 1 and MPO flags not supported Resolution color depth etc does not matter, hopefully they fix eventually. Looks like MPO remains enabled but only on primary monitor HDR looks washed out without MPO but its hard to tell cos difference is small but noticeable, if you used windows HDR calibration tool and disable MPO

All previous drivers installed the Pci Bus driver for my computer. Version 23.2.1 does not install the Pci Bus driver. Although the Pci Bus driver is in the installer. You can check for yourself. Unpack the installer and search for amdkmpfd.

Can you find amdkmpfd.inf (PCI BUS driver) in C:\AMD\AMD-Software-Adrenalin-Edition-XXX\Packages\Drivers\Display\WT6A_INF directory? Or you can try to unzip the EXE file of Adrenalin with 7Zip. I can't find a such driver in the driver pack. I receive this driver via Windows Update (Win11) and it's old. That's why I install the latest one 22.40.0.2 manually (deleting the old one) from the archive I downloaded separately. During the driver update, I don't remove it with DDU (excluded in DDU settings) because Adrenalin drivers don't have it. It's the same for my old 6800XT, and now with 7900XT.

FINALLY. Curious if they silently fixed the dreaded MPO issues
This driver has MPO effectively disabled for multi display systems.
S3r1ous:

huh finally shows 12_1 feature levels in the dxdiag...
That's a windows thing.

For me, it was installed upon reboot after driver installation (so I had to reboot once more). PS. I used AMD Cleanup Utility beforehand to uninstall everything AMD related.

This driver has MPO effectively disabled
How come when dxdiag says: MPO MaxPlanes: 3 MPO Caps: ROTATION,VERTICAL_FLIP,HORIZONTAL_FLIP,RGB,YUV,BILINEAR,HIGH_FILTER,STRETCH_YUV,STRETCH_RGB,IMMEDIATE,PLANE0_FOR_VIRTUAL_MODE_ONLY,HDR (MPO3) MPO Stretch: 16.000X - 0.167X MPO Media Hints: rotation, resizing, colorspace Conversion MPO Formats: NV12,R16G16B16A16_FLOAT,R10G10B10A2_UNORM,R8G8B8A8_UNORM,B8G8R8A8_UNORM PanelFitter Caps: ROTATION,VERTICAL_FLIP,HORIZONTAL_FLIP,RGB,YUV,BILINEAR,HIGH_FILTER,STRETCH_YUV,STRETCH_RGB,IMMEDIATE,PLANE0_FOR_VIRTUAL_MODE_ONLY,HDR (MPO3) PanelFitter Stretch: 16.000X - 0.167X It looks like 7900 cards have it enabled.

Is it just for 6000 cards? Because dxdiag says: MPO MaxPlanes: 3 MPO Caps: ROTATION,VERTICAL_FLIP,HORIZONTAL_FLIP,RGB,YUV,BILINEAR,HIGH_FILTER,STRETCH_YUV,STRETCH_RGB,IMMEDIATE,PLANE0_FOR_VIRTUAL_MODE_ONLY,HDR (MPO3) MPO Stretch: 16.000X - 0.167X MPO Media Hints: rotation, resizing, colorspace Conversion MPO Formats: NV12,R16G16B16A16_FLOAT,R10G10B10A2_UNORM,R8G8B8A8_UNORM,B8G8R8A8_UNORM PanelFitter Caps: ROTATION,VERTICAL_FLIP,HORIZONTAL_FLIP,RGB,YUV,BILINEAR,HIGH_FILTER,STRETCH_YUV,STRETCH_RGB,IMMEDIATE,PLANE0_FOR_VIRTUAL_MODE_ONLY,HDR (MPO3) PanelFitter Stretch: 16.000X - 0.167X It looks like 7900 cards have it enabled.
Its disabled on multi display systems, have clarified.

Quake II RTX v1.6.0 started to crash with this driver. 😕 P.S. And I already had a few crashes of Forspoken Demo.
Weird! Now with the old driver, I have the same crashes. I have to check the system stability because AMD drivers mess up the clock of the computer (they change some settings in BIOS). Faulting application name: q2rtx.exe, version: 1.6.0.0, time stamp: 0x61e9dbcd Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 10.0.22621.900, time stamp: 0xa97a9ed6 Exception code: 0xc00000ff Fault offset: 0x000000000010f25d Faulting process id: 0x0x824 Faulting application start time: 0x0x1D941284E790F70 Faulting application path: C:\GAMES\Quake2RTX\q2rtx.exe Faulting module path: C:\windows\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll

You only need to find "amdkmpfd" without ".inf". Then you need to rename all files. amdkmpfd.ctz >> amdkmpfd.cat amdkmpfd.itz >> amdkmpfd.inf amdkmpfd.stz >> amdkmpfd.sys Spoiler: Image

Do you have Above 4G Decode and possibly resizable BAR enabled? I need those enabled for the Pci Bus driver to get installed.
Yes. I have SAM/REBAR activated.

I didn't know that, thanks! Now it's clear. 🙂 It looks like all 7900XT drivers have the new 22.40.0.2 driver. Before with 6800XT, I had to install this version manually and keep it because they had the old version. It looks like that now with 7900XT, I don't have to do it anymore.

For AMD's sake, i hope its not true lol.
If true there no reason for me to trust AMD value as its already bad due 8+ months of unstable drivers, however this driver is very promising so far, rather AMD doing a dirty bandaid fix for MPO then people suggesting to turn of MPO eitherway MPO is still on but only for primary monitor but i could be wrong, normally i would have alt tab minor freezes with enchanced sync unless they broke that as well if so that is very lame of AMD not to report that broken, but then again i can turn of my 2e display and just test differences cos MPO technically is on at an overlay level as well. Speaking of which did they add back opengl extensions yet ?

Yap. I use CRU to change monitor parameters but it doesn't work. I changed my card to RX 6650XT and installing the old driver CRU will take effect.
I also use CRU to extended the Freesync range of my monitor. so for now we are stuck on 22.11.2?

I notice if its the buggy nvidia drivers everyone says oh thank you.... but when its AMD its always bash time even though everything is ok they find anything negative to say.

I dont even have pci bus listed in device manager.

In my case, my new card RX 7900 + 23.1.1, 23.1.2 and 23.2.1 CRU changes had no effect.

[/spoiler] _________________ Seems like VRAM is keeping powered on more consistently? Since yesterday i only met one instance of it powering down, after i left if for 20+ minutes. But strangely after night it hadn't powered off as well, so i have no idea what are regulations for this.

I would suggest reading the MPO document especially on AMD restrictions to understand how MPO works. especially picture in picture section might explain why there been issues with video playback https://docs.kernel.org/gpu/amdgpu/display/mpo-overview.html Technically speaking if you had support for 3 planes on dual monitor you would get rid of all your driver problems by simply having 3 screen setup cos 1 screen takes up 1 MPO plane, otherwise its primary MPO secondary and MPO + 1 overlay limit which would mean picture in picture or an overlay would use last MPO plane in my case it would probably be used by whatsapp desktop video call that has overlay feature, and since it original scaling is less then 0.25 i suspect that is why it is causing blackscreens probably. The overlay plane is shared across screens Linux may get MPO next week when linux kernel 6.2 hits be intresting to test shame there is no way to run the same whatsapp desktop app on Arch Linux or be intresting to test out my theory. Speaking of which if not been able to reproduce pink artifact screens on Sea of Thieves i have to test with 2e monitor off as well to see if they indeed fix it or its fixed due MPO plane limitation
