When you need gtx1080 to keep 60fps in 1440p you know something is wrong. gtx1060 and rx480 cant even do 60fps at 1080p. Quite a discouraging performance. UE3 in the first game performed much much better, they should've used UE4 instead.

The graphics cards tested R9 285X (2GB)
Guys, what are you talking about? This card doesn't exist. I guess it is R7 260X.

You high?? ITs a terrible port and runs like total crap.

Why is there such a difference between 285 (aka 380) and 380X, HH? Its the same chip. Vram limitation or something else?
You are spot on. Ultra quality and 2GB doesn't mix well.

Agreed. The VRAM consumption also painted a pretty bleak picture, showing how poorly optimized this game was. Also 60GB is stupidly large. Though that's not terrible considering the campaign is apparently up to 20 hours long, it's still excessive compared to the 9GB of the first game, which still looks good by today's standards and from what I recall, has a longer campaign. Keep in mind what makes graphics really stand out these days is lighting, ray tracing, and particle effects. Hi-res textures are definitely important but those could at least be compressed.

Hm, 35 FPS on RX 480 at 1440p? That's sort of disheartening - is the game really that demanding?

Btw Undying the game uses hybrid ID5 tech engine.

Im just praying they drop it and start using id tech6 for Evil Within 2/Quake Champions and so on. This game needed a Vulkan support and performance would sky rocket.

Thanks for review Hilbert! Obviously badly optimised game. Maybe patch or two would make that fps go higher a bit, but I have a doubt about that. Interesting to see 780Ti is fighting with 390 at 1080p/1440p and even with 390X at 2160p, although on barely decent fps. Haven't seen that for a long time in some of the latest titles. Guess game development started on Kepler generation hardware or maybe it's just a bit more greenish optimised game. It would be nice to see how 7970/280X performs in Dishonored 2... I know, I know HH, you don't have any 🙂

I would like to see it too. 280X is on pair with 380X in most games. So look there in his chart, thats what im doing.

Aah now I see the error, my bad, that X does not belong in there. Sorry for the confusion and I will correct on the next update. As for the 7970/280X request. Sure not a problem, I'll add some more cards on Friday.

Impressive framerate score, guessing this was tested early in the game however as the first two levels (Or three if you count the tutorial.) run a lot better than later on in the game.

Yet! Millions of PC gamers will run out and buy this rubbish! I give up today. The only games I am looking forward to is Planet Coaster and Squadron 42 (if they keep their promise and release it next year)... The rest I will take a look at when they are £3-5 in the steam sale!
