Should be great. Love their games and I'm sure this will be a great addition to their library on PC I mean if you're not on windows 10 by now, something is wrong. Your days are numbered. No reason NOT to use win10 since it's better than Win7 in every way (this from someone who is always very slow to migrate and very skeptical) Yes, one does. It's common practice to do so. What do you mean "EGS's handling of things" exactly? Are you another one of these people who whines and won't buy on EGS due to a misplaced sense of pseudo-loyalty to Steam or something
I would debate this, but has been already done. The days are numbered because the industry decided to move forward, and at some point there will not more drivers for windows 7. But the industry is moving `forward` or more `somewhere else away from windows 7` because they decided to, not because there is a radical improvement. But if i could choose between windows 7 without dx12 ( unless world of warcraft ) but vulkan, and windows 10, I would still pick up windows 7. As a gaming OS for gamers only ( and not streamer and multi tasker of any sort ) windows 7 is still better imho.

If you use Windows 10, the built-in LZX on-the-fly compression feature (you need the command prompt to enable it) is a great way to save yourself a few extra GB. Depending how many games you have installed, it can save you enough space to fit another whole AAA game. Your CPU should easily be able to handle the extra overhead, and you might actually see faster load times, if your drive was bottlenecked. If you use Linux, Btrfs and I think ZFS have highly configurable on-the-fly compression too. Also, assuming you use Steam, you can use it's built-in backup feature for games that you want to keep but don't intend to play for a while. If you're in a real tight financial bind, it allows you to split the backup into 4.5GB and 700MB files, so you can burn them to optical discs. That way, you don't have to re-download the whole thing.
i tried that compression before (using compact gui, posted https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/compact-gui-resize-your-games-programs-by-60-or-more.417370/) imo not always works, especially in many newer game which already compressed/packed in first place (like destiny2 : https://i.imgur.com/Wpk9R6C.jpg) based what i tried back then, often it not completely give u free-space so more likely windows retain that free-space, as it seems the space needed when u doing decompression what i am not sure, back then i tried when i got tight free-space, so less than 5GB... so maybe if there more space, such like that not happen ? ever since i add more storage, i dont have free-space issue, well i have yet to try again, if anything changed or not there also alternative like : https://github.com/Freaky/Compactor anyway list free-space that said u can save using those compression (compact-gui) : https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14CVXd6PTIYE9XlNpRsxJUGaoUzhC5titIC1rzQHI4yI/edit#gid=0

CompactGUI is basically just a frontend to the Windows LZX compressor. If you don't feel like dealing with the command prompt, it's a good option. Anyway yeah, it isn't going to make a big difference in all cases. For example, you're not going to save any space if the contents of the game are already compressed. I'm aware of that chart you provided - it is a good reference to know what games are worth compressing and which ones aren't.
GamerBoyManuel16:

I'll google the compression - didn't know that, but will it compress existing files or does everything have to be rewritten?
Well, you're effectively changing the data structure of the entire file, so the files are being rewritten. It's replacing the original though and it works transparently, so you don't have to worry about cleaning up after it. Note that using LZX is not the same thing as the classic NTFS compression method (which has been around since Windows XP and is accessible by right-clicking on the file and selecting the Properties menu). To the end user, LZX functions the same way, in the sense that your software will still run while being compressed, but it uses a more advanced compression method that can take advantage of more cores. I would strongly advise you don't compress the entire C:\. Also worth pointing out that if a compressed game saves you less than 10% disk space, just undo the compression. At that point the game is just going to load slower. I'd recommend checking out that chart provided by @slyphnier to know what's worth compressing and what isn't.

btw beside that it doesn't have helped much, have you noticed performance degradation in loading times? so is it worth it enabling it ?

A free PC demo will also be available for download on the very same day.
Frack yeah! I missed that part! Now I know what to play this evening.

regarding to loading times, some said it actually improve it back when i use it, i dont see any different, so neither degrading or improving what i did notice is only slight more CPU usage with compression those compact-gui or compactor is simple and straight-forward anyway, so nothing wrong to try it and if u dont like it, u just need to uncompress to revert back

Demo is up. 10.2GB

Nice game concept, but on initial testing the controls are awkward.

I'll try tomorrow and maybe compare loading times on saturday ^^

My bad man. I think you may have to view the store page through the Epic launcher. It was listed below the Buy Now option.

Still no there?....only $39.99 option https://i.postimg.cc/hthygpcD/Epic.png

Damn demo, it's not possible to have it run at 4K/60fps. Every time I press RT and scope the room, if I look at a location far away the FPS dips to 52-55 no matter the settings. And the GPU load is not even at 99% so something is fishy. I tried the newest drivers but it didn't help. I'll try 3440x1440 this evening.

Scroll down to the end of the product page, you'll see it there. Also you have to "buy" the demo (although it's free ofc).

jbscotchman:

Huh, I don't know did you scroll down all the way?
yep!....no there there...kind of reminds me of the current situation on the hill. it's over there! .... where? .... over there!...:p

I'd be surprised if the demo wasn't removed as within an hour of release they bypassed the demo to unlock the entire game for free, lol.
