Is the 27" curved monitor at 2560 x 1440 resolution too or is that just the gaming monitor? I get the impression it isn't given the massive difference in prices between the two...

Right I found the answer about SE2716H resolution... why would you want 27" at that low resolution? Better off buying a five year old Dell 24" monitor at 1920x1200 resolution! Diagonally Viewable Size: 68.5 cm 27 Inches (27-inch wide viewable image size) Aspect Ratio: Widescreen (16:9) Panel Type, Surface: Vertical alignment , anti glare with hard coat 3H Optimal Resolution: 1920 x 1080 at 60Hz Contrast Ratio: 3000: 1 (typical), Dynamic Contrast Ratio : 8 Million:1 Brightness: 300 cd/m2 (typical) Response Time: 6 ms (gray to gray) FAST Mode

well its curve... the tech trend in 2015 (seems samsung display?) or the web mistake/wrongly wrote the resolution but looking at the price, seems right iirc dell 1920x1200 24" retail price is about same, not sure what current price well yeah u can get deal nowdays, but again there will also deal for monitor also this line up is TN ... whereas dell 1920x1200 is ips right?

What are you on about, most 1440p monitors are 27" (mine is) and it's the perfect size.... Why would you want a lower res and a smaller screen rather than a bigger one with a higher res?

The specs he quoted says the monitor is 1080p, not 1440p. But it is 1440p so I'm not sure why those specs say that.

Both of you are actually saying the same thing. :P He meant that 1080p is low for 27".

If I'm not mistaken, the Dell SE2716H has an 1080p panel unless I missed something.

Weird, I guess it is 1080p. When I google search it it says 1440 but it's based on people asking if it's 1440, not that it actually is lol

S2716DG is the model number in the title. The SE2716H is a different monitor. This thread is confusing.

yes...but imho $800 now is a price for a 1440p gsync with AHVA panel, like Acer or Asus. Not for an "old" tn panel, like Asus rog Swift in 2014. 🙂 Dell is....Dell but this monitor is overpriced.

Still waiting for Dell to put up a curved 100Hz 34" IPS gysinc, like the new ASUS Rog or Acer Predator. My past two monitors were/are Dell, and I somehow got used to the quality level. Couldn't ever go back to TN though.

This monitor doesn't cost $799.00 even though that's what is listed on Dell's site. It goes for $549.00 to $598.00 on Amazon. I got tired of waiting for my dream monitor (35" curved VA 120hz 1440P with G-sync) and got this Dell over the weekend. There is no back light bleed which I've never seen a monitor do before, the color is ok using the ICC profile & calibration settings found on TFT Central, no stuck or dead pixels, the stand is nice, and gaming is sublime. My only gripe is the anti-glare coating is grainy and it's TN. I'll happily use this until the larger 21:9 gaming monitors are perfected.

30" 16x9 or 32" 16x9 144hz UHGHH enough with the ultrawide stuff - just give us a monitor that is good for work AND for gaming. 27 is puny. If they made a 50" ultrawide that would be fine but a 34" ultrawide just doesn't have decent vertical coverage for gaming and work. They say it is immersive and perhaps if I had tiny slits for eyes and sat 8" from the screen it might seem that way but I don't. Go crazy and remove the side bezel and make a 32" 144hz screen - time to move forward people!

27" 1080p is preferable for general computer usage, for some people. Obviously gaming needs the highest PPI possible to get rid of jaggies, and having more real estate is better for productivity. But if your usage consists mainly of web surfing, 27" FHD can be very easy on the eyes. From a gaming standpoint, it's also a lot easier to run an FHD panel with a single video card than a QHD panel. Not everyone can have, or needs, a top end card pushing a high res panel.

If you want to spend the money, you can get a 40" 4K monitor right now. They fill the exact role you are looking for. They have more vertical coverage than an Ultrawide, and they fill up your field of vision.

How far away from the screens you use do you sit when working? What sort of work do you do even? I'm genuinely interested.

I'm guessing two miles and a half.
