Do you have any evidence of this? You guys have got to stop jumping to conclusions.
In their example videos we already clearly identified reduced foliage/flying clutter.

Makes me reconsider not buying this generation. A couple more good results and I am convinced.

I was hoping something like this might happen. Glad I went with a 2080 over a 1080Ti for sure now 🙂 @Denial thanks for the good info on how this came about. Obviously early days of a really new tech from a games perspective.
If the price of the 2080 and 1080Ti are pretty much the same, then that is the smart move.

Indeed A good model 2nd hand 1080Ti is about the same price, or more, as a 2080 (when considering freebies I would have bought anyway like BF V & steam vouchers + gaming 7.1 headset) in the UK I tried buying some 1080Ti's and got burned twice in a row, but got my money back in both cases thankfully 🙂 + buying new was a whole lot less hassle

Patience Gurus. This is new tech and there's a TON of work left to do. It'll take time to find the right balance between fidelity and performance.

I'm missing power usage values for cards with performance patch, is it same, lower or higher? compares to previous game version.

That's quite an impressive jump so quickly after the initial release, maybe the tech being mainstream isn't as far away as i previously thought. Not that i'm about to buy any of the RTX cards, but it's encouraging.

So the next generation is the winer.

It went from abysmal to bad, but it's still an improvement.

Interesting how this differs from one country to another. Where I live a new 1080Ti is cheaper than the 2080 (not that much but still).

I'm not sure I can follow my fellow gurus, are you talking about new cards, or used cards? Because new, 1080TI prices are inflated. There's 15 2080s I can see right now which are cheaper than the cheapest 1080TI, the greatest difference being 140€ (which is insane). There, getting a 2080 is a no-brainer. Can't talk about used cards market though, since I doubt any used 2080s are around at the moment. Of course, all of this does not touch the subject of somebody upgrading from a good GPU to an RTX card, a totally different story there.

Played the new Solo mission at 4K@90% + Ray tracing Ultra. Pretty playable. [youtube=zStdt969kys]

No matter what NVidia does some of you always find something negative to say. You suck, plain and simple.

I'm talking new 🙂 Also, after the 2000 serier were announced a lot of retailers in Sweden dropped their prices by 20-25% which lasted for a while (not until today though).

Same. The prices are now comparable in my country between the 1080Ti and the 2080. Hell they are the same price as the Vega 64, which is insane in itself.

That runs really well. I guess Ray Tracing was set to low. What about the other settings. I see you say in the title it's ultra. I thought at this stage there was only low and medium.

i show the settings at the beginning of the gameplay, ray tracing to ultra. Note that it does not perform as well in multiplayer! Even if it performs a lot better now 😛

Yes, there is visual downgrade. And performance increase outside that one autumn level is trivial.

Yup, exactly what I said earlier, while others stated "naah its code optimizations" -
cryohellinc:

I bet they have disabled some visual effects.
cryohellinc:

I doubt its actual code optimizations, perhaps some settings tweaks and certain features disabled altogether.

The fantastic result of the developers & Nvidia's effort is regardless of what setting is used with DXR, the visuals are still "heads & tails" above the plain Jane DX 12 visuals. Hope everyone with a capable ray tracing card is enjoying the RTX visual experience.
