Must really suck to be stabbed in the back by Crytek like that.

Hate comment below without much game knowledge:
Ah the climax finalle of StarCitizen, get canned due to license breach.
This game perfectly sums up devs who got too much funds and no clear goals. Just code a bit of everything that sounds cool.
Facial expression? yepp gotta have it for alpha release!

Are you programmers here? If this is true, Crytek has any willing right to do this. It is called dirty play. It is not always about the money. It is about fair play.

The foundation of the case looks like Crytek are in the right here.

word from CIG
We are aware of the complaint having been filed in the US District Court. CIG hasn’t used the CryEngine for quite some time since we switched to Amazon’s Lumberyard. This is a meritless lawsuit that we will defend vigorously against, including recovering from Crytek any costs incurred in this matter.

Problem is this game seems just a fraud itself...and people still funding it lol...it will never be released and the devs will disappear with all the money....

This is no different to the Too Human unreal 3 engine lawsuit , Remember that ? 🙂 This will cost CIG big time.

Oh my soul, I feel terrible for the people still waiting with bated breath for this scam. Alpha 3.0, the third alpha? Heck an Alpha is supposed to be version 0.1 or something with the Beta being 0.7-0.9 and then the final product is 1.0. Yet this one now after 5 years has Alpha 3.0.
It's a damn joke.

Crytek looking for some easy money?
RooiKreef
I might be wrong, but didn't Crytek go through a very rough patch and filed for bankruptcy? Like I say I might be wrong.

I would like to know what crytek wants to get from this, money?! I guess that wont happen because SC/RSI is broke too, otherwise they would not raise loans and sell expensive imaginary ships

Here's part of the lawsuit:
"In that Agreement, Defendants promised, among other things, (i) to use the CryEngine game development platform exclusively and to promote that platform within the video game, (ii) to collaborate with Crytek on CryEngine development, and (iii) to take a number of steps to ensure that Crytek's intellectual property was protected. Defendants utterly failed to follow through on those promises, and their actions and omissions constitute breaches of contract and copyright infringement and have caused substantial harm to Crytek."
So the fact Chris Roberts tried changing engines while still using CryEngine code, stop paying Crytek, and removed the CryEngine logo shows he did violate their original contract. This is going to be interesting and Star Citizen fans are going to lose their Sh!t!
