There are few exception, but we are on decline at least from 1997.. and my personal idea is that evil game what was final nail to coffin of great design was Tom Raider 1.. and that 3rd person control scheme.. That game sucks a lot - controls suck, puzzles are boring, shooting is awkward, enemies are stupid.. but because some 12 years old boys probably liked 30 polygon boobs, such game was smashing hit.

Yes and no. Crysis 1 still kinda runs like a crap fest. Its really buggy to launch alot of the times for me.
The vulkan wrapper doesnt work for it. With mods it does look fantastic for how old it is, but it runs pretty crappy on my 2700x. My 5600x and X570 arrived today and it does 4.8 overclock!!!!
I'm so in love with this monitor. So much so that I went through the trouble of driving 3 hours away one way, and traded my 5700xt with a water block +$700 for a Dell 6800xt. I only had $425 in the 5700xt including buying the water block!

I'm getting a solid (limited) 60 FPS at 1440 p with a Radeon Fury (non-X) and 4 GHz 6850K...

Hmm Crysis 2 Vanilla runs/looks so well no? Supports 4K and had some HD texture add ons courtesy of Crytek... I suppose a remaster may have some VR support?

Im about to test out my 5600x in Crysis 1
It runs the best it ever has. GOG vanilla version
Getting 60 fps @ 5120x21880. No AA, no motion blur, everything maxed

No idea mate, whatever it runs at as standard.

DX10 then. With mods its a tad worse performing but still fantastic for a 14 year old game.
