Now I am beginning to regret upgrading to a 5900x a few weeks ago... That thing obliterates my 5900X scores..

How does AOTS benchmark even work? Just googling random 5900x results with similar settings has numbers all over the place for CPU. I've seen results as high as 130fps. @Ryu5uzaku gets 153 with his chip.

Yep, this is a huge leap for Intel, and AMD are now dead in the water. Zen 4 is a year away, by then Intel will be on its AL refresh. Really curious what the response is going to be, because if these are the gains we're looking at, this holiday season is going to be all Intel.
Hows AMD dead in the water? First of all Zen3+ comes out before the end of the year. Second if we go back months, same thing Intel was saying about the 11900K months before release, yet had a still birth when came out.

I won't need a new CPU until I can buy a video card that's faster than my 2070S

I'll wait and see if this has any value, because...I seriously doubt intel can dig a hole, just to fill in another hole without anyone noticing.

It's a really weird bench. Not accurate to me in any shape or form. There are better game cpu benchmarks for sure then aots.

What did you get. And are you really limited by something in your system right now? Don't regret buying something when there is something better coming up. That is always a fact in hardware world.

Does anyone actually play Ashes of Singularity, or is it just an esoteric benchmark suite these days? I seem to recall it was the poster boy of AMD Mantle, or something. The percentage seems a bit high, but I'm sure it will be somewhat more powerful in games. Who knows about anything else but games, especially software where all cores and threads can be utilised 100%. That remains to be seen.
yeah, i play AoTS and never benched it once over three gpu (RadeonVII, RTX 2070, RX6800xt) and each card was added to a loop.

also just a couple of thoughts... unless you're an esports player or a have a cryogenic cooler and you need a use case scenario this nugget about an otherwise obscure game and clocks is meaningless. the simplest fact is that this cpu is coming out before next gen gpu. if it was particularly meaningful they would use a mainstream game like CoD or AC but it's not that meaningful for me, my biggest hope is that the 12th gen is more than incrementally better than gens 8-11. true performance will benefit everyone, so i'm not hating on it.

Almost a year later, something faster comes out? And people are surprised. God some people are dense asf. Anyone who says AMD is dead in the water are complete moronic fanboys.

Whatever you choose there will always be something faster than it.

Crap benchmark for AMD. I've had multicore cpus since the ES Xeon V3/V4 days running AoTS. My 5950X doesn't run it much faster than those in the benchmark (although the software version has changed).

Looks like W11 and DDR5 is paying off for INTEL.

What is the power usage comparison?

Doesn't it feel great when there's competition and innovation within a marketplace ?

I see that intel shills are celebrating / salivating over a grain of salt rumors XD Let's wait for an official review from Hilbert, and let's derive our judgement from there. Until then, AMD still wins this year. Will not believe any of these AOTS benchmark salts as I've already learned from that waste of sand 11k Series from Intel

You all be acting crazy brainwashed with brand loyalty to a faceless institution/company. We should expect every new CPU/GPU to give better performance especially with PC gaming as the life blood for people who have a computer at home. I want better performance numbers every new release.AMD/Intel/Nvida giving us crap forever with small increases and charging a crap ton of cash. I am also a sucker who buys the new GPU/CPU all the time,so I have no reason to complain, just wishing like a dumbass for better, when I know it will never arrive to where I am fully feed to quash the need to buy the next one.

You sound like me years back. I use the term "MILKING WALL THEORY." If they keep pushing technology faster and faster they will likely back fire and hit a wall or limit. Computer tech now isn't booming like it did in the year 2000. We humans are pushing the limits with what we have now and what we can use. We will always hit a wall but you gotta have a new wall to start far away again and go again and again and see how long that path will travel until the next wall shows up.
