I'm still on x58 platform with 990x.
What a 5960k could bring me more?
6core 12thread i have. 3.6Ghz i have.
Would the money spent be worth?
I would get more ram bandwith for sure and new storage platform.

Depends on what you use your system for. But I guess you'd see gaming improvements in heavily CPU utilizing games too. Not so much in 'normal' situations.

Rendering, some games and few other things would see a boost. Normal everyday internet surfing and so forth of course would not.

Well it translates to 10% from 3xxx series already then 😀 this should be tho 30% faster then my cpu clock for clock.

I can't clock no further then 4.4ghz with this motherboard. But skylake for example @ 4.4 in some games would garner 30% more fps. This broadwell should be able to do the sameish.

I'm on an overclocked X5650 Westmere, coupled with a Gigabyte X-58A-UD7, so I even have USB3 and SATA3 on my X58. I only game on my machine though and I'm putting out numbers beyond the reviews...
If you have a six core 1366 platform, don't bother upgrading.

Nothing to be Impressed from , 15 % better performance is not enough for upgrading.

Nothing at all? DigtalFoundry has a couple nice videos comparing 4 Gens of i7's that say otherwise.
You may have SATA3 and USB3 but neither are native to the chipset and most of the time native intel controllers are better than garbage 3rd party ones.
X58 had a good run but to say there is no point in upgrading is wrong.

If you mainly game on your PC, there is no point in upgrading yet, when you have a beefy six core X58 setup. That is what I'm saying, based on first hand experience. That was -I believe- the question of asturur.
PS: I know it's not native and the Marvell chipset's performance is debatable. The NEC USB3 chip however is top notch and delivers.

That's not actually true. Vastly improved IPC on newer chips makes a difference in gaming. Skylake CPU's are top of the charts when it comes to gaming despite having less cores then older gen 6cores.

"A" difference. You said that right. That will probably not qualify as the answer to "will it be worth it".
When I put my R9 390 into my friends' 4770K system, he actually gets less performance opposed to my own -overclocked- X58 system.
I seriously doubt that the price investment for a Skylake system over his current X58 hexacore system will be worth taking. And that is my point. As I am in the same situation, I wouldn't upgrade either. IF gaming is your only main habit.

Well, at least there is some improvement, in games this will be even less, especially since most are GPU limited anyway.

better wait a year for skylake-e
new platform/fresh chipset, and for extra another minor improvement from broadwell-e
imo, i dont see good upgrade time with broadwell-e
haswell-e was better upgrade back then, except DDR4 high prices
