Now this, compared to the lackluster 12900K is much more impressive. Definitely a top dog for gaming. Might be the go-to for a lot of people who are in the market right now.
This is the only cpu to buy however the new platform is costly as well as DDR5.
Nonetheless Intel is back in the game which is still a bit wierd to say, AMD have to drop prices and everyone wins here since the Ryzen 5000 value didn't really drop a lot(high end at least).
MAYBE the 12600 KF might be the new gaming king since it is basically a 5.3 GHZ Ryzen 5600x at this point with on par IPC!
I wish they would consider a 12500Kf without those 4 littles cores at $199
or maybe a 12650KF with 8 big cores, without the little cores as well at $349
AMD, show me the money now!
I am a bit confused about that IPC results. Is it the same as Zen 3? I expected it to be more like 10% above Zen 3. Or is this the case in this specific test (cinebench r15)? Given how big the P cores are (2x the size of zen 3 cores), intel is not getting a lot of performance from these.
Here are tweaktown's results: https://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/9974/intel-core-i9-12900k-alder-lake-cpu/index.html
they should adl being 15% better than zen 3. (601 points vs 516 points).

Yeah. AMD's 5000 series prices aren't very competitive against this. You might argue the extra cost of DDR5 would even the playfield, but marketing doesn't really work that way.
This 12600k really pulls ahead. Its fast as 12900k which is impressive. Hopefully amd can now drop the prices on 5000 series. Having a competition is always nice.
Im still gonna wait things to heat up amd to release zen4 before upgrading.
did not expect that,really
30-40% faster than 5600x in cpu intensive scenes
zen 3 w.3d cache will only cut that distance in half, maybe.
impressive gaming cpu,really.

still,it's what they offer at 250eur that interests me,and only after ddr5 gets more options.
This must be the most expensive i5 we have ever seen. 399eur for an i5 is where last gen i7 was. Taking into account that ddr5 is so pricy and decent z690 costs 300euros its an expensive platform.

Amd back to budget corner. These prices gona fall ? Or maybe not because platform cost is big ?.
Gotta love competition and progress this is looking good.
Wish you could put this bad boy in B560 🙂))
