What I'd rather have is just lower prices. I hope this doesn't increase rates for me, but assuming they're just going to expand the network from PA, it'll probably be a few years before it reaches me.

The 5g coverage is atrocious and the speeds rarely if ever at 5g since it is mostly deployed at lower bands .... I see no reason to even be excited or care about 10G ๐Ÿ˜›

Hit that 300 GB/ month cap faster than ever...

I've had Comcast in the past for a long time. They upgrade your service for free. Then in a year, they'll raise your price out of the blue and justify it by saying that they have upgraded your service for free in the past.

Telecoms are the more greedy companies around , after they normalized double dipping on charging , they will OBVIOUSLY charge for the free updates !

Supposedly, you can call them to whine about the price increase and if you say the right phrases, you can get them to revert it. I've done this once before. Reminds me of a pretty funny story I had with Comcast: When I moved to my first apartment, I signed up with Comcast and got their mid-tier internet with basic cable TV. Well, I didn't use the cable TV so I just shipped back the box. A couple days later they called me asking if I wanted to cancel my plan. I said no, where they're like "well do you want your box back?" and I said "no, I don't have any intention on using the TV". They told me "by cancelling the combo deal, this will increase your rate". I asked by how much, and was told "it'll go from $69.15 to $69.16". "OH NO! One cent extra!? Yeah, I don't care, go ahead and cancel it".

My local service is offering 8Gbit symmetrical for only 10$ more than what i currently have (3gbit) but i can't get it... my 4090 is covering the 4xpcie slot i need for the 10gbit adapter...

I put my GPU into PCIEX16_2 and the 10gbit NIC into PCIEX16_1. GPU is reduced to x8, but it doesn't matter much if at all. But I own a Vega64, no RTX4090. "Some" difference in performance ... ๐Ÿ˜€

Internet is so cheap it can't get cheaper. Maybe you will get higher bandwidth in near future for same monkey but prices will go up not down..

That's strange coming from a Pole, seeing as your country has some of the cheapest broadband internet in the world.

Can I have 1gbit ? Jokes aside ....do you even need more than 3gbit ? :P

How strange? That is why i said it can't be cheaper. I pay 12eur for 300/50 connection. I really don't need anything faster. 1000 cost 20 eur...... You can have some Basic connections like 20-50mbit for 5-7 eur... Outside big cities its more expensive but still cheap.

would it make more sense for her to invest in coaxial cable or go for xgspon fiber? I don't know if a 10 gb connection would be stable on a coaxial cable network, what do you think?

Honestly the only time more than 3gbit is useful is to download steam games, itโ€™s the only service that is faster than 1gbit. Having 8gbit would really only be useful if my wife and i want to try a new game, weโ€™d be able to download with no restrictions at the same time, Not a big deal. My main issue with the current situation is also a local one, i often transfer large files to my nas and Iโ€™m now limited to 1gbit locally.

30Mb is more than enough for gaming though. It's connection latency that affects a game not the speed. akin to Voltage and Current?
Latency really only matter for online gaming lower the ping the better. I have 400bit connection that something like 50mb/s download and when down loading 50gb + game even that is to slow imo and game not getting smaller contrary to what people keep saying that still getting bigger. there is reason why I prefer physical disc still on consoles. i atlest dont have to suffer threw horrid speeds psn still has cause i get half my actual speed on psn still and when i had 100mbit it was roughly half that of actual speeds on downloading. I would kill for pc to have physcial disc for games but that long gone thing, and frankly at this point internet speeds as fast bluray copies speeds if not faster in some cases. most the time when by time i download a game i lost intrest in playing by time it done. would love faster internets speeds but last time spectrum "upgrade" my speeds it was actual downgrade I went from have 400mbit tier that gave me 550mbit or more to have 500mbit tier and get 450mbit. atlest the monthly bill stated 99$ to get there 1gbit tier would cost me 140$ month i hate to see what they would charge for 10gbit.

that was my thought as well considering that if you get 10gbit will be limited on SATA ssds to 5.5 gbit since such drives write with 550 mb/s :P even 100gb game will take about 6 minutes to download on 3gbit :P

How low? 10GBPS is already like 10 euro here, what less would you still expect? I would say its a pretty good price, and you can consider it free literally

Precisely my point - it costs me $90 for 250Mbps down.

Last I checked, Comcast doesn't serve Poland. It's pretty clear I am a Comcast customer. Alternatives around here aren't really cheaper (there are better values but they're still expensive). So no, actually, it can be cheaper in my region and I'd be paying more than double for the speeds you mention.

10euro a month? haha 400mbit is like 100$ in the states. the states pay more more per mbit then euro and most other place if your paying 10 euro a month I would kill for 1gbit at 10euro which like 10.60 like
