''And it appears that Capcom wishes to recreate the atmosphere created by Resident Evil Village, complete with darker scenery and demolished houses when in the original everything appeared more "orderly." That's unfortunate.. They should be inspired by original RE4 and not by Village, its RE4 Remake after all and not Village Remake..

I always thought RE4 took the series into "goofy" territory. When I think of Zombie shooter, I think L4D. When I think Zombie survival horror, I think Resident evil. I know a lot of people loved RE4, so I can understand that they would prefer the original RE4 take (same as I loved the remake of the first and second RE, but NOT the 3rd). I however probably will enjoy it more if they go more akin to the horror style of RE.

I played 2+3 remastered. Its a good call for the remaster. But I wont be playing this time around.

RE4 is when RE stopped being RE. It was a great game but: 1: It left America for Spanish-sounding Eastern Europe 2: It dropped the fixed camera for over the shoulder 3: It wasn't about zombies any more. As for Village, it was absolutely awful. I can't understand the positive reviews it got.

RE4 was great. I did not like RE series before. And after. Latest Village was crap either.

I'm still amazed how good the original RE4 looked for a Gamecube game.

RE4 is where RE stopped being RE. 1 2 3 and code veronica were good lost all interested in RE after them

I just hope it has nothing to do with the village. Do a proper remake of re4.

Code Veronica was a weird one - it wasn't a main RE game, but it was technically speaking the proper RE3 given it followed on from RE2 unlike the actual RE3. It was also the most 'Japanese' of all the RE games.

Thought I was the only one who hated it.

Looks amazing... Sometimes I look at remakes as improved versions... like the Director's Director's cut...

RE went from zombie survival horror game which was GREAT to being zombie shooter game. that was end of RE for me have not touch RE game since that change, and probably never will I watch friend play newer RE game but they look like zombie shooters and later incarnations got farther and farther from all zombie theme too imo

It played survivor horror game unlike everything after ( I liked when gun ammo was rare and ment to be saved) which made more fun in turn scary, RE4 and everything after ammo became super easy come by cause it be came zombie shooter. on topic of RE remakes how many time have they game been remake now? honestly I rather seem them make new Breath of fire game so i can see how badly they messed that up micro transactions or turn that into action hack slash like SQE did with FF series, So as capcom has effective killed what was left of there franchise in my eyes just like SQE did

I didn't like Village either, since it was clearly unfinished, but it could have been a good game for sure, since it's quite similar to the seventh, which was a great game imo, if only pretty linear. I also very much liked the RE2 Remake, but the remake of the third was also cut short it seems, though in the case of the third they did manage to make it rather entertaining anyway. This fourth one I'm not that sure about, since I'm fearful that it's hyped by Nintendo fanboys, who basically love anything related to Nintendo's platforms. Is the fourth one anything like the seventh perhaps, but more action packed? I'm sorry to say that the very first Resident Evil, which I have tried in the form of the HD remaster, which is a faithful adaptation (too faithful maybe?), was not to my liking. I just don't like the clunky shooting parts and trial and error puzzles, but I really did like the atmosphere, which is of course the reason for the game's classic status, but I personally wouldn't recommend the game for almost anybody to actually play. :/

I can't wait for this remake and I love the new dark tone. I hope they keep the intro villages mostly in tact along with the whole castle. They can chop out a large chunk of the ganados-with-guns portion of the island for all I care, but whatever they do I hope they keep the regenerators. The only thing I wish they had done differently is wait one more generation; say until a PS6 and an RTX 6080, or whatever is out around ~2027. Sure it looks great. But another gen would have placed it at 20+ years old and could have had even better resolution, lighting and fog effects, etc. Sure, we'll still see a big difference, but I think they pulled the trigger too soon. As someone who'd consider himself a fan, but not someone who has played all the games, I'd give the following ratings for the time at which I first played each game. RE 4 - 10/10 RE 2 Remake - 9.5/10 RE 1 Remake - 9.5/10 RE: Code Veronica - 9.0/10 RE Village - 8.5/10 RE 7 - 8.5/10 RE 5 -8/10 (mostly for the Co-op) RE 3 Remake - 7/10 RE 6 - 5/10 (as a functional game). Fan impression for the series: 1/10

Resident Evil 4 is the one that killed the series, the downhill chapter, from this game onward every game turned into more into action and away from strategic horror Its the worst RE game ever, i haven't touched it to this day because of this. RE:CV was the last classical RE game

That was PS4 only wasn't it? I love VR, used to use it a lot (till recent dizzy spells put paid to that for the time being) but my VR is all PC and Index. Don't think RE4 is VR on PC.

Yeah, you'll notice it's not the only game I missed playing, which is why I call myself a fan of the series, but not a hardcore fan. I'm not a completionist. I speed ran RE2 remake a bunch a got to under 1 hour for completion, which isn't super impressive by speedrunning standards, but is compared to most casual players. Aside from that the game I played the most was RE4 on multiple platforms. In regards to RE:0 the setting never really appealed to me. Secondly the inventory system sounds like it is annoying to deal with.
