In before people start complaining about Epic Ga---- oh... nevermind; too late. On a serious note, odd change of pace. Borderlands 2 for example seemed to be more of a Nvidia title (particularly because of PhysX support).

PFFFFF, wont be giving these money grabbers any of my hard earned. Gearbox Studios say "We've chosen epic store so we can offer better value for money for our customers" what they really mean is we charge even more money for this pos and because Epic take a smaller cut we make even more money from these sheep. £50 for the basic game is £20 too much. I might spend £50 if it was for the full game with all DLC packs and tbh the last borderlands was so poor compared to its predecessors, i expect this will only get worse

Maybe they want to recover from damage done to franchise name.

Not sure how supporting AMD hardware would do that? And as far as I can see, the Borderlands franchise is still pretty strong - it's still the gold standard for looter-shooters.

Man I love when my old 2600k/gtx1060 is still up there in recommended!...."kind of"...

Well, have you read steam reviews for previous Borderlands? Large quantity of negative reviews focus on poor performance/stuttering or PR behavior. "I love borderlands, and i loved the first game, but this... Its just a broken mess. Installed it to try, everything lags, even my cursor in the menu. Turning, jumping, it all was terrible for me. And that was when playing in solo. Tried it with a friend and ping paired with the constant and inescapable game issues made it literally unplayable." "This game is fantastic from what I've played so far. Unfortunately however, the STEAM version of this game has a memory leak that may affect you. The retail version on the other hand does not." "Before you play more than 2 hours, see if your frames are dropping more and more if you play. If so, refund the game or try one of the various fixes online including deleting your 3D Vision Drivers (Not needed) and verifying your game cache, both of which did not work for me." "For me, the framerate would start at 150 and slowly go down until about 15 frames where I would restart the game. This was staying in one place not moving at all." - - - - Optimizing via AMD's toolkit means higher fps, better IQ, no useless effects that break things. They can fix PR behavior on their own, but having comfy gameplay experience is something they apparently needed help with.

Or in other words, it doesn't offer anything for Nvidia users. I hope it's not buggy on Nvidia (or AMD), otherwise it's going to be refunds on mass.

No, I haven't seen such reviews. Kind of surprised to hear about them - I haven't encountered any such memory leaks myself, and I've put in over 800 hours into BL2. I've encountered far more crippling issues with other games *cough*Bethesda*cough*. Maybe it's because I played with an Nvidia GPU? (although I recently played BL2 again for the free DLC using a Vega 11 iGPU and it ran surprisingly well).

the problems with borderlands 2 were mostly : - people activated physx feature when it destroyed fps, you could turn it off or keep it to a minimum - nvidia drivers had a weird impact on the game I remember going back a few numbers because the latest ones reduces my fps by like 20fps or introduced stuttering, frametimes weren't discussed much or known back then but I'm pretty sure they must have been bad because 90fps looked like 15 sometimes that kind of reviews "game doesnt launch on my computer" "I cannot play" etc.. are usually specific to this person's computer, you should never care about them unless there's a majority of comments going the same way other than that the game was superior in every way to the 1st one, and I hope it'll be the same with this one I wouldn't pre-order or buy it at release tough we are in 2019 p2w micro-transactions are introduced after the game release, "things" like anthem or f76 get released I'll wait for a while, maybe even till steam release if it's the same DLC policy as BL2 I'll be happy to pay for DLCs, because in 2019 it's the best we can hope for (p.s. game doesn't seem to have a sniper class ? if no this sucks I always played those, maybe then they'll add one as dlc like the presequel)

Borderlands 2 has 126K reviews with an "Overwhelmingly Positive" average on Steam. Pre-Sequel has 18K reviews with a "Very Positive" average. You can cherry-pick a few bad quotes to support any argument you want to make, but Borderlands has a fantastic reputation on PC. TotalBiscuit even made a video praising BL2 for having one of the best PC options menus he had ever seen, and encouraged other PC Developers to look at it as an example of a PC port done right.

BL1: Quotes I gave are new ones. Not old ones. BL2: 1.8.5 (April 2019) breaking cross-platform multiplayer. June 2019 HD Texture Pack not available on Linux. BL - PS: Gets already mixed reviews. Find yourself. You know, all of them had good start and good reception over time. It is that company behavior shifted in 2019. And so did reception of public to those technical and humane changes. Therefore They have PR problem. And not small one. Have you known that Gearbox's CEO demanded review censorship from Valve? What a PR nightmare. From all I saw, they have a lot of goodwill to recover, because they lost almost everything. Then they got those technical problems which do not increase buyers confidence in them. Having good review statistics in last 8 years on average is good for nothing when last 6 months are total nightmare and sales for upcoming game are likely going to be poor as result.

I think you're overthinking this. You're making it look like the game has overwhelmingly negative ratings and that they're desperately trying to regain their reputation. As a longtime Borderlands fan, my enthusiasm for the new game has not taken a hit at all - as I said, I wasn't aware of any such issues, even on my recent playthrough, and I don't give much weight to a few people complaining about technical issues. Furthermore, the optimizations they're making for BL3 mostly apply to AMD hardware, while the previous game was an Nvidia title. If they wanted to make up for issues in their previous game, wouldn't they optimize for Nvidia? "We're sorry Nvidia gamers had trouble with our last game. To make up for it, we will include optimizations for AMD hardware. Enjoy!" As far as I know, the only hit to their reputation is the whole EGS thing - and nothing short of abandoning EGS will make up for that.

You do cut cancer off, not dress it nicely and feed. Really, you can check Steam reviews of those games if you want to see how atmosphere changes over time. You can display graph of positive/negative and pick them by month to see what was plaguing given game. And as I wrote, for most of the time, those games were well received and company was liked. But 2019 looks differently. (And I am not even following social media to know details of this particular "drama".) EGS adds to those problems. And their CEO's comment threatening Valve. (As if he could do some damage instead of looking like a fool.)

So the politics around this game (which hasn't released yet) are driving butt-hurt fanboys to go crap post the reviews section of the previous game? Why should we care exactly? *confused face*

If that's all you got and have to ask, there is really no point in explaining. But imagine I slap you on face in middle of otherwise pleasant conversation. Where does that conversation go from there?
