Why no resolution mentioned? If they are only 1080p I'm somewhat sad.

Unless they're 1440p / 120hz I'm not interested tbh, the move should have been made a long time ago. Any monitor purchase I make in the foreseeable future will be an OC'able Korean import.

They are probably 1080 (FullHD). 1440P 144Hz monitors are not off the shelf display's yet. The new ASUS ROG Swift will have one at 27" with G-Sync but even that is a custom designed 8-Bit TN panel (first of it's kind) that's $800. Also I don't even think Nvidia/AMD supports 144Hz @ 1440p?

You don't even need to do that it says FullHD in the article.

I've considered getting one and I still may for a secondary replacement for my U2410, but I'm kind of a aesthetics whore and I feel like all the one's I've seen either have awful looking bezel designs or they say something stupid like OVERLORD in a terrible font in the direct center of the bezel. But yeah I feel like the more I look into them the more I want one. As of right now I'm kinda interested in seeing what ASUS can do with the ROG Swift. It's the first 8-Bit TN panel and supposedly ASUS claims its of extremely high quality. It's G-Sync, it's 3D, it's 1440p and it's 1MS GTG and has supposedly an extremely low input lag. Unfortunately it's also $800 and it's been delayed to June but whatever.

Love the snark, but not sure why it is expected that I need to do further research for a long press release that is missing key information. Perhaps you should direct your snark at whomever wrote up the PR piece and get them to add a link to the actual BenQ site in the article?

It's not missing key information. Read the first sentence.
BenQ today announced the availability of three new additions to its XL-Z series of first-person shooter (FPS) purpose-built gaming monitors: the 27-inch XL2720Z and 24-inch XL2420Z and XL2411Z widescreen full-HD displays.
Unless I'm missing something, full-HD is 1080p

I was curious what the difference was between the XL2420T I own, and the Z, so I used the compare tool on the BenQ site: T vs Z comparison The comparison chart does not mention that the T model is also LED backlit, and I noticed that the T model magically gained the "Flicker-free Technology". There was no mention of this "feature" when I bought it. (TN and IPS panels don't flicker. It's not a feature, it's a property) I also wonder how winning an award qualifies as a feature... The ONLY difference I can find is the Low Blue Light technology. Apart from that, they are identical. Don't get me wrong, it's a great screen for fast paced gaming (colours and blacks suck, it's a TN panel) but I wonder why they launch it as a new and better product, while all they did was update the firmware to add a different way to adjust blue levels.

yeah but on a 27-inch why would you need to go higher then 1080p

I'm guessing you've never used a 27" 1440p monitor? I'm of the mind that 1080p looks terrible on any monitor larger than 24", 1440p on the other hand looks fantastic. There's very noticeable difference in pixel density.

Funnily enough, 27" 1440p monitors are the sweet spot at the moment in general in my opinion, they look better than the larger 30" 1600p screens out there from my experience also.

ehh lcd is only going to look so good

Panel types play a role for sure, but so do other factors such as refresh rate and pixel density. It all adds up, and as I said, at the moment 27" 1440p screens, be they IPS/PLS are the sweet spot until 4K and newer technologies are genuinely viable.

Some people here seriously need to learn how to read.

Technically it can mean 1080p or 1080i. It also generally implies only 60fps or 24fps, not 144. For how much other information was included in the post, the exact resolution without marketing speak would be nice. Seems most people here understand technology, we aren't afraid of raw numbers, we want it!

There are no interlaced flat-screen monitors. And it does not imply anything. All the information is in the article.....

i dont think that is quite correct, 720p is "HD" and 1080p is "Full HD" 1440p is "QHD" (Quad HD) and 4k is "UHD" (Ultra HD). at least that is how i understood it

I have a 27" 1920x1200 monitor and its very noticeable when I compare it to my GF's 24" 1080p monitor. Not a big deal but still noticeable. I can't really complain too much though because the monitor is 6 years old now so its about ready for an upgrade.
