Tbh the only good thing I see is the response time, what are the viewing angles? 2-watt stereo speakers 60hz Console oriented.. meh. The only screen spec that would make me upgrade my G2400WD 2ms 60hz screen is a 27", 120Hz 1-2ms gtg and no additional rubbish such as speakers.

Sigh, why can't it ever be good news? "Gaming" monitors are an excuse to sell piss poor quality TN panels at stupid prices. 1ms GTG, yeah that sure helps, then those "pro" gamers use 20% of their GPU for in-game motion blur after buying these monitors to prevent blur. http://i3.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/000/471/542/069.jpg I've been using an 8ms GTG IPS panel, I'd take that any day over a 1ms TN... if it weren't for the super sandy matte finish which makes me want to tear my eyes out.

Hence "pro", not pro. 😉

Blurring is ok depending on the game but often I do considerably worse when it's on. I like to turn off the depth field. while it looks nice, it can make a huge impact on your chances of winning.

+ it's frequent even for "2ms" monitors to have real lag of >10ms; 1ms is ... well... fake If I wanted to buy a "gaming monitor", I'd probably look for one from EIZO - they know how to make fast IPS screen.

Well panel response time is more for movies than for games. We need to know Input lag, this is main thing screwing gaming. My TV response time is 2ms GreyToGrey, but it's impossible to play on it, 60MS input lag, you can even feel mouse falling behind. TV is really great for movies, but for games...and monitors has that input lag too, if it's less than 15ms then great, if it's more, you might feel it, i do. And vendors don't write it, the main thing screwing gaming...of course we all know the reason why.

Maybe you bought a LCD monitor with bad input lag? I see BenQ uses similar "over bright" technique as my new Eizo Foris 2333, here its called Smart Insight - it also sharpens the image a bit, although i dont use it much.. Also there is no input lag, Eizo own engine takes care of that + its a IPS, im not a fan of TN ;p

1ms is worthless if this monitor can't do faster than 60Hz. Asus VG278HE (144Hz refresh rate or 2 x 74Hz flicker free 3D per eye) wipes floor with this BENQ turtle 🙂.

see no reason to swap out my excellent Benq XL2410T 🙂

response time pfft as long as it's around 8 and under it's good. all my monitors have 4-6 ms response and input lag under 1 frame for goodness and telly does under 0,5 frames \o/

when did BenQ release something worthwhile that anyone with 'quality' in their mind would even seriously consider? ..Ive never seen it, or even heard of it.

2420T is probably one of the highest quality TN gaming monitors. Sitting next to my U2410 it's very close while calibrated. And it has very low input lag. That being said I would really like companies to start pushing technology here. Apple seems to get it but everyone else is just cheapening everything they can get. I haven't seen a decent monitor I'd like to purchase in years, it's retarded.

*sigh* another run of the mill 1080p/60hz screen...I wouldn't pay more than $20 for that junk. It's 2013 and this 1080p/60Hz is f-cking ancient...The standard for gaming monitors should be 2560x1600 @ 240Hz by now...but no....apparently it's better to remain stagnant...suckering the masses into paying $230 USD for the same old sh!t..

The reason why it's $230 is because it's the same old ****. Apple will inevitably deploy 4K monitors @ $1500+ to the ridicule of the community here. At that point whoever is building said panel (samsung probably) will take the sub-par panels and throw them at companies like BenQ, Dell, etc who will then sell those monitors at lower price points, probably around $600-900. Until Apple comes along and pushes that tech though, no company has the money to start development on the displays your talking about. The vast majority of people don't care about display like your talking about. Not until someone informs them that it's better.

Careful throwing around the A word lol. My big gripe with this monitor is it's a TN panel and not an eIPS.
