You write
nizzen:

This was mostly userfailure. Not using 4x ram sets, instead using 2x 2x ram sets with too fast memory.
Then I write
TLD LARS:

I am not able to find a 4 module DDR5 kit for sale anywhere in Denmark, so calling it userfailure is a bit harsh.
Then replying
nizzen:

If people don't read the manual, it's a userfailure 🙂
Reading the manual does not really help with the fact that it is practically impossible to buy a 4 module DDR5 kit, as you write is needed to reach high DDR5 speeds with 4 modules. It almost feels like the memory companies already know that 4 sticks run bad compared to DDR4. AM4 Gigabyte X570 AORUS XTREME is certified to run DDR4 4400 on 4 sticks and Z590 AORUS XTREME is 4266 at 4 sticks DDR4, so 4800 DDR5 4 sticks is not really impressive.

oh i totally agree w/ user failure and pilot error being a problem. but i never had a single problem w/ 4 sticks on x470, x570, and x570s. as in not one. but then again i do read the owner's manuals and i especially follow QVL on new platforms. i've been running a 5950x w/ (relatively) fast 16Gb sticks x4 since launch and through two different mobos (the x570s). on the other hand i set up my neighbors AL... and he bought a four pack of DDR 5 RAM (on the QVL) and getting the RAM to act right took more time than building the PC and installing windows 11 and this wasn't any type of rinky-dink rig as he's an engineer @ Intel and even he was surprised (6wks after launch) so total system cost incl GPU is well north of $4,500 in parts - and every part is top rated.

Show me ddr4 4400 on 4 sticks. Can't find it. On qvl it's 3800mhz max on 4x dimms.

Now to the best part: Show med that it's actual working 😀 Rocket lake has insanly good memorycontroller for DDR4. Benchmarked 2x16GB 5600mhz on air, on 11900k. Still can't wait to see 4x4400mhz working great 🙂 I've seen 4x5600 mem stable on Alder Lake, so it's pretty good, though 2x32GB Hynix doing 6000mhz easy, and it's hard to justify using 4x dimms 😛 z390, and 4133mhz 4x dimms was pretty much max with alot of work. Z490 was about 4266 4x dimms.

Horus-Anhur:

More like what AMD did with Zen to Zen+. Just improvements to cache and higher clocks. Raptor lake only increases cache L2 cache by 1.5MB per core. So lower cache misses there, but slightly higher latency. The rest is just higher clocks. This last, probably accounts for most of the gains.
At least with Zen+ it was not meh. It felt like a good fresh to a product. @nizzen, that fact you were not impressed by Ryzen 3 5xxxx cpus shows you are not a fan of just fast hardware. The pure jump was insane and fast. That smells of closet Intel fanboy. You didnt have to be all over it, or buy but to say not impressed is pure bs insanity.

That's a very weak argument, dude. That's a child's level argument. I know English isn't your native tongue, but fuck, that's weak. You're supposed to argue why the other team is better; I didn't know that AL couldn't do 4x8 DIMM above 5200MHZ and to me, that isn't good from a tech point of view.

Have I understood this correctly? You first said that DDR4 4 sticks QVL past 3800 does not exist. I find them, but instead of admitting that they exist, you say that 2 different motherboard makers are lying with the QVL, because it does not work in real life anyway. And the QVL on DDR5 is conservative because you have seen 4x5600 run fine on Alderlake.

I wrote that I didn't find it on gigabutt.com There are many examples that qvl doesn't work for everyone. Xmp is overclock and depends on many factors to work. Enemy nr #1 on hig speed kits is heat.

I couldn't be impressed when old 8700k with fast memory was on par in gaming. I'm a performance fanboy, not every Amd "fanboy" undersrand that 😉

Biased fanboy in denial. It doesn't matter what you had, so you fail to realize that. You could have a 10900k. Ryzen 3 was a massive leap for AMD. It brought more to intel users by pushing intel to do even better. If you can be inpressed at all, then you are not a performance fanboy at all. Especially when AMD took the lead for a while. But clown on, its ok to be ignorant.
