DICE already announced yesterday that preliminary RTX support on the deluxe edition release day followed by future patch support and driver updates from Nvidia to improve performance ...
Thanks for mentioning that, I had been searching for info yesterday and didn't see that. Fingers crossed for the 15th then.

This RTX thing is a utter and complete joke! Makes you wonder if it's intentional? nVidia knows that an angry mob with torches and pitchforks would attack their headquarters if it turns out that the 1200$ 2080Ti barely does 1080p/60fps with RTXX enabled 😀 So maybe they're still working on drivers to downgrade this feature to make ut playable?
they're undoubtedly working on drivers. but the problem is deeper than that. Turing was clearly designed to be the architecture of a new process (incl. RT, DLSS). but, because Jen was complacent with fabrication (as that's not Nvidia's area of expertise) they were left exposed to a competitor whose DNA is being one of the original fabricators with complete understanding of the Deep, Wide, Big Science and Art of IC invention, design, manufacture, and implementation. Turing on a smaller node eliminates every single complaint i've heard and would've offered up the degree of performance increase everyone expected.

I didn't care that much about ray tracing, I bought it for the performance. Yes, I did pay 70% more for 35% increase in performance; because it is a hobby and I just can simply afford a $1200 card. Well, I paid more than that for the tires on my car anyway. Sorry for paying full price for BF1? Thanks, but no thanks, I'm not. I got to play it for a whole 1.5 year with all the DLCs. I've been seeing you bashing people who are simply in a better situation than you are financially, who can afford things that you can't, from the owners of intel 8th gen or 9th gen to RTX and even GTX 1080ti. Guess what? There are people who want to have the best experience when playing games, just because they can. Why don't you stay with your budget-oriented camp, and tone down your jealousy?
I'm not religious … but Amen brother.

I like this site, probably my favourite tech site on the net but this is another click bait artical just because RTX. DICE already announced yesterday that preliminary RTX support on the deluxe edition release day followed by future patch support and driver updates from Nvidia to improve performance . I also don't remember all the crap early dx10, dx11, dx12 cards got when it took months for titles to come out with support for those apis. If I remember rightly, many of those titles came out after those cards had been on the market. They would require patches to support those apis and would usual perform worse or there was no real difference. Give developers a chance to get something done right or have then rush something out that looks bad and under performes. I know what I would prefer!
So, RTX is available, but pay-walled? Good Game.

Yah, that's the standard pathetic argument from people such as yourself. 'People who buy something I can't/won't afford are dumb' You keep telling yourself that.

I could buy a couple of them if I wanted But I have brains too I'll wait and see How many games support the new software before I purchase them

Good, I respect your choice, you should learn to respect other people's choices and refrain from insulting people you don't agree with. Cheers 🙂

...Not again people, please stop, if I've wanted to burn my money and not buy any type of hardware, would be better? Let's stop this pricing or misleading feature nonsense. Somebody could easily spend an RTX money amount to sluts n whores in a month but he will be playing 2 years with top performance and eyecandy. Life is about priorities.

I am sure you can. I bet you can buy a breakfast from Tiffany and have it delivered by an airplane. Neither of which proves that these options are realistically viable for you. Or that you're not living under a bridge for that matter 🙂

Same, up to 40% faster than 1080 Ti is still significant and I can now max out many games @ 4K that I could not on the 1080 Ti. I'm not worried about RTX, just another reason for people (most of whom aren't even buying these cards) to complain and call Nvidia the devil. Nothing to see here, move along 😀
If it's 40% faster than old TI then I see no reason for someone with the available $$$ to purchase it ! It's quite simple ray tracing was a cherry on the cake but failed. I don't think anyone will enjoy RTX with the 2xxx series (until last q2010) but hey you've got a cherry and a 40% faster cake so it's all good.

Yah, exactly 🙂

The only thing i fear in regards to the 2080 ti is that now nvidia has seen that they can get away with charging alot more, for a much smaller performance increase than you've gotten with previous gens, then they will keep doing that in the future, but potentially even worse, as there likely wont be any true competition.

Sadly, I believe you are correct. I think the new price for the top tier card is going to be between $1000-1200 USD.

Do not worry, if raytracing succeeds, you are not going to get any performance improvements for rasterization except those coming from higher clock. That's because Huang played paradigm shift to ensure that there is something else to upgrade for years to come. So you are going to get 50% raytracing performance increase per generation instead.

Not entirely true neither wrong. This is valid only if a Titan never become a gaming and semi-pro card 2in1 again. The 2080ti is a lesser one, not the flawless thing. Meanwhile Titan Xp was a full chip, not like 1080ti. If I was Noobidia, I would push into market a gaming titan about +50% of 2080ti price with more ram and cores. Price was big but worked, whoever wanted to buy a new gen gpu didn't stop, 3 choices were enough.

You could get 100% increase in Rt power every new proper node... but by 1.5nm you would barely have 2080ti rt performance on mainstream $250 cards... and who the hell is gonna want to play games at 1080p with mediocre framerates by year 2030, rt is a joke.
