Better buy a Raspberry Pi and play retro gaming than this US$250 "stuff".

I wouldn't go anywhere near this, not after reading the latest update on The Register - https://www.theregister.co.uk/2019/10/08/atari_architect_quits/
404 🙂 I am wondering why have chosen Ryzen? Every Atari 2600 game were working fine or too fast and need slow down under my 1st smartphone years ago (mean with the power of a desk calc lol), and even if they want to do more thing, like streaming game, multimedia etc... then the Ryzen is overpowered and make the Atari over an XBox one X or a PS4 Pro price. so: ??? *edit* Also if you want to use as a PC with the ability to install other OS the price is still not competitive as it is over the price of a small Ryzen config that is evolutive compared to the Atari

Yes but this solution is for those who know how to build it (and it can work NES game too 🙂 ), it's not aimed at the same customer.

After what? A rumor that doesn't exist even on the site you link?
oh so it's totally not real because he can't post a proper link and you don't even want to bother googling "atari architect quits", right? https://www.theregister.co.uk/2019/10/08/atari_architect_quits/ "rumor", lol It's a gimmick piece of standard x86 hardware with a logo and pricetag on it.

Why do they call themselves Atari? They're just Infogrames.

Infograme in itself is dead long ago, when they bough Hasbro in 2001 then in 2003 take the name of Atari S.A. it's like "france telecom" who bought "orange" from UK and apply the name to the whole company, the name is world wide known. More money about the company were nearly bankrupt and save itself by online casino game...

Of course this is not the type of product for the people on this forum. But i see no reason to bash it. Being 40yold i love retro games, and i can assure you that unless you are ok with downloading the rom illegally, is way better to have a system with games that a raspberry with retroarch. This product will go out at 249 and probably finish at 149 soon.

Interesting considering their lead architect quit. Wonder if the project is far along enough to not need him anymore.

Why should I google something like this? If somebody wants to make some claim like this and posts a link, it should work. It's not up to us to prove something that somebody else claims, it's up to the person making the claim.

Someone needs to make a real commodore 64 -> machine which made all the difference and made this Atari look stupid. Vic 20, 16, 64
C64 was a personal computer, atari wasn't..

I wonder if there will be an online version of Gauntlet and Gauntlet 2? Grim Dawn is the only game to come close to the 1985 original.

They should've made a retro 800XL computer instead.

and be in the $10 bargain basement bin by the end of it's first year. I don't get who this is aimed at, If it's the retro gamer then you can do the job easier and cheaper by any number of means and if you're in to the retro scene that much then you'll already have a set up that does the job (just a side note retro gaming, especially going back as far as the Speccy and C64 days is best viewed through the haze of rose tinted glasses because those games seriously are no where near as good as we remember them.) If it's the modern gamer as the system just doesn't seem powerful enough If it's the media master as like the retro gamer they will already have a set up that does the job far better than this will If it's the casual gamer then again their is already the Switch, PS4, XBox 360 all established, with long term support already doing everything this thing claims to be able to do It looks like it is aimed squarely at a niche collection of former 'Atari Owners' who are happy to fork out to own what looks like an early 80's piece of tat that can play some games they used to like playing. If someone like Valve who is squarely in the middle of the modern gaming culture can fail at releasing their own 'do all media box' what the hell makes a company that has had no hardware presence and barely any software presence for the best part of 2 decades think they can succeed?
