May have missed it but I don't see display panel type, backlight type and HDR specs.

This 31.5-inch 4K liquid crystal display features a high-contrast VA method,
It's a VA panel ... Yikes

Nothing wrong with VA in my experience, been using a Korean VA panel now for 8 years or so when monitor overclocking became big there for a bit and I'd buy another it combines the best aspects of IPS and TN, this from a quick glance actually looks like a good replacement for me if the price is right

Nothing wrong with using VA as far you are happy with em! Personally I can not stand smearing, that's why as far I hear VA is an instant nope for me.

Nothing. Every type of panel has strong and weak points, it's a question of choosing what we prefer.

I agree , a lot complain about ips glow where dunno it does not bother me at all , on the other hand very fast I can spot a VA panel on high contrast scenarios and the dark level smearing will instantly bother me so much it frustrates the frack out of me , there are people that it does not bother em at all or they can not see it ... Or they are used to it I guess . Hehe affordable OLED can not come fast enough !

VA was a bad reputation because apparently the only thing that matters in monitors is how fast they are.... For gaming , specially single player games, i prefer them the by a long shot.

I see it as well with VA's. I don't hate them by any means but prefer the IPS. I actually have the Asus PG279Q but it does suffer from some glow. Thank goodness the guy that originally bought new returned it with everything included, was a decent open box deal 3 years ago at $460. I've thought about chaning up monitors but still the same issues from current panel designs. I'd like to go OLED but at that point your at 4k then your need to sell a kidney in order to pay for the RTX 4090 😛 Overall, the VA's and IPS are way freakin' better than the tiny crappy LCD TN panels we all use to squint at.

the smearing above is on a Va monitor XD , now about the TN panels ..yeah no reason to buy Tn in 2023 XD, that said from what i heard some very few high end Va's almost eliminated to a point that the smearing does not matter anymore , so a very careful due diligence is required but in general mid range use 1 or more gen older va panels ...and low end ...even older ...where dark smearing is abysmal ! again it depends if it bothers you or not !

Have also seen that newer high end VA's are getting lower repsonse times and reducing the smearing. Can't I just get a nice 27" 1440p OLED without needing second mortgage on the house 😛

You say that until you see them side by side with a high quality IPS. If you see one next to an OLED you'll never use a VA again. I went from a 240Hz Odyssey G7 to a 165Hz Alienware DWF OLED, and I'll never consider a VA again... and the G7 was one of the few, the only at its release, which didn't have VA dark smearing.

I think nobody here disputes that OLED has the best image by far

The pixels on the VA were so much more obvious than on an IPS of the same size and resolution (even at a distance) that it looked lower res, the viewing angles were annoying, etc. Even if OLED wasn't an option I would never consider a VA again.

I never really had issues with the pixels in that aspect, dark smearing in my number 1 factor to steer clear of em

Me neither, and I have done a lot of comparisons as I used to do photography for a living. VA smear was really never that obvious to me, but were all different.

Yes? So I'm letting others know my experience with VAs, even one of the very highest end ones money can buy. That's kind of the point of tech forums, to discuss tech and share information. If I had never tried a VA before and was considering one, I'd be grateful for such info being shared. Even my OLED has its issues which required manual adjustment and custom settings to fix, and I knew of those ahead of time because of people posting about it. If those people had your mentality I would have never had that information ahead of time, and would have been frustrated with the out-the-box experience.
