Are you running it with v-sync on and are you getting a steady 60FPS if so the card is not going into it's full boost state or even it's full 3d clock as it is not needed. BTW what laptop do you have and do you like it? I would like to replace my old gateway FX 17" laptop with a new gaming laptop.

vsync is off, i tried running the game at the highest setttings and the FPS dropped to about 40 (was pretty choppy though). Core clock still stayed at 705.5. Also the description of max performance says the card will run at full speed all the time without clocking down....

What is your CPU doing I know my CPU in my gateway can never keep up with my GPU in it (C2D T1555 with a GS8600m) so you may be encountering a CPU bottleneck or the more likely problem is driver related.

Well...if it was a cpu bottleneck then it wouldnt be able to keep up in furmark too right? Either way its a i7-4700MQ and under load it goes to 3.2 ghz most of the time.

It sounds like a driver issue then. Do you have any other to test with?

Just the latest stable and beta ones that were on the nvidia site.

Sorry I meant games to test. BTW furmark iirc does not use a lot of CPU it's a GPU stress test, but with that CPU you should not have a bottleneck there.

Tested three more games, Civilization 5, Arcanum and Age of wonders : Shadow Magic. All 3 will only make the card run at 705.5 mhz.

Nvidia support now says that it's a VBIOS issue. Thoughts on this?

Did they offer an updated VBIOS?
data/avatar/default/avatar34.webp
No, they said only the laptop manufacturer can do that.

Have you contacted the laptop manufacturer to see if its something they can do on there end like updated BIOS? Also do you have a spare laptop hdd to do a fresh install of windows on to rule out any software issue?

Get GPU-Z and read default vbios values then. You still have not wrote model. That is crucial, because if it's 15" manufacturer may have decided to lower bios values to match TDP of cooling. You tested furmark, what was maximum temperature there. And what was temp you got in Vindictus.

I have GPU-Z, how do i read the vbios? It just says 706 mhz in there. Laptop is a clevo p151sm1b. Everyone else with the same card and laptop appears to be getting 705.5 mhz as well, unless the card turbo boosts. Card hits around 55 degrees in furmark, less than 50 in Vindictus. Waiting on a reply from the laptop manufacturer.

If GPU-z says 705Mhz then that is what it's set to the specs on their box or at the website is wrong. You could always use MSI AB and over clock it a bit.

No OC tool that i tried will OC it. Only way i found to budge the core clock was to use nvidia inspector bat files....

I got nothing else for you bro best thing I can say is get in contact with the manufacturer I haven't messed around with the mobile keplar's.

I own a GTX 770M, regaurdless of which Vendor they all have the same stock speed of 705mhz. If you look at how nVidia worded thier tech spec page it stats 810+ boast. I.e meaning it will boost to 810mhz or above. Now the boost max limit is 862.5mhz. Now with nVidia stating its a vBios issue, that is a complete and utter fob off from them to you. I have a bios that will allow constant 862.5mhz if you require it i just need to know your current Subvenor first!
