This tickles the tech of my brain, but...its 1080 vertical is really low, the DPI on that would be eye-straining in 2019

Honestly I think these are too wide.

It's catering for people that want 3 monitor experience with no bezels. Other then gaming, I can't imagine more use case scenarios for this.

3840x1080 is ideal to me, sure it's half the res of 4K, but it'd be so much easier on the GPU, you can prolly max out all video setting for any game and still get pretty good framerate.....with a top end card that is. I also like that it's a Freesync monitor, none of that inflated Gsync nonsense. I was actually surprised that it doesn't specify Gsync what with being an ROG designated monitor.

They're not meant for everyday desktop PC usage but for dedicated racing & flight sim rigs in your 'man cave'.

Took me a while to get used to my 3440x1440 21:9 screen as a daily driver, but for something that XG49VQ to get used to, you need to grow a second head. 😀 So yup, games only.

It's quite funny that Nvidia has like 80% of the gaming GPU market, but conversely more gaming screens have Freesync, not G-sync. Many Freesync screens must belong to people who can't even use the adaptive sync feature due to having an Nvidia GPU. They might not originally have had, but when AMD failed to release more interesting GPUs, people would have bought an Nvidia video card and be left with a screen they can't put to full use. No doubt Nvidia wanting to make lots of extra money out of it is a big thing holding back more wide-spread use of adaptive sync. On the other hand AMD might have sold a few more GPUs due to some people seeing the big picture (GPU+screen), not only the price of GPU alone. So, due to Nvidia's politics, there would be Nvidia video card gamers unnecessarily without an adaptive sync screen because they can't afford one, consequently with a lesser gaming experience than AMD video card gamers who could easily afford a Freesync display.

not even 82 PPI, this will look absolutely atrocious if one sits a bit closer than like 2 meters.

Not until freesync does something with the "minimum" frame rates on their monitors I will be staying away from them. They need to be capable of keeping a smooth experience all the way down to 30fps. Still personally holding out for a TV for the basement to support this shtuff so I can throw my ❌ at it and have an even more enjoyable experience on it. And my computer as its fifteen feet away from the home theater as it is.... That is if AMD can give me a reason to buy their cards again....

While cool for flight sims and racing games, I would actually see this as being an awesome productivity monitor for work. I use a triple monitor setup for work currently, and it takes up a lot of desk space with monitor stands, not to mention the cable mess and dock I have to plug everything into. If they were to use software to segment the screen into 3 separate monitors, that would be a really cool setup to cut down on desk clutter while not having to worry about bezels either.

@Kaarme so all of a sudden its less of a gaming experience, when we were playing games fine without it for past 20y (or longer)? please explain to me how (outside lowering input lag) my experience gets better when i have a card fast enough to do solid y-sync numbers? lol.

Unfortunately I can't explain anything to people who think nothing should change in 20 years.

The 49 inches is the diagonal. Think of this as 2 x 25 inch (with half-inch bezels) 1080p displays glued next to each other. I use 2 x 22 inch (viewable area) 1080p monitors at work, sitting about 2 feet away from my eyes at my desk and do not notice the pixels. Yeah, if you're a leaner at less than 1 foot away from the screen you're going to notice the pixels...

1080p is a tad to low for my liking though, DAW's show less in height @1080p than 1440. There is software to segment the monitor: https://www.asus.com/us/support/FAQ/1016271/

You have underestimated the size a bit, it is actually the equivalent of 2 x 27 inch monitors. You can't just divide the diagonal distance in half as you're only halving the width and not the height as well.

@Kaarme just explain what experience im losing, when gaming without freesync/gsync, when i have solid fps with vsync on.

Nah, got used to 55inch as my monitor, sitting desktop distance

I would buy this if they make it with GSYNC, free-sync monitors are just useless more or less they catering to what? 10-15% of gamers? If LG wont release a new 2019 55inch OLED with HDMI 2.1 VRR and native 4K/120hz [although they already promised and demoed 4K 120hz on OLED] ill be looking for big PC monitor with GSYNC
