DAAAAAAAMN... Nice monitor and all, but whoa on that price tag.
Not to sure it is even justified for what it offers now.
Possibly something to keep an eye on in the next few years as product pricing can hit some sort of parity.
That and supply and demand could surely use a bit of help in the coming year as well...
Yeah, mini-LED is expensive. I have it on my Ipad Pro 12.9" M1 2021, hence expensive...
It gets really bright and is almost like OLED in terms of black levels, definitely better than LED black levels, but still has some flaws and is not as perfect black as OLED. Now micro-led will be even better and probably perfect of both worlds. Of course at 4K & 8K. But until that comes, mini-LED will start to show up at expensive prices first then it's getting cheaper later on once micro-LED is here for monitors and TVs.
The price is big because as of now there are not yet many manufacturers making mini-LED TVs or PC monitors for that matter.

I had one of these but sent it back, the picture was amazing, but that fan is always on, you don't need the G-Sync fan when you are surfing the net, playing movies, or working etc, but that fan is constant, and I could hear it in another room (When the door's were open), My Pc under non gaming conditions is ultra quiet, but you can clearly hear that fan whirring, would have been fantastic if not for that
@hh ... at this price point you can build two or three PC's .... ar live fine for two months if you don't have mortgages. The prices need to get to saner positions. I know it's a luxury product ... but at this rate hole market is up in flames . rant out

It would have been better if ASUS added some more perfection into it, even if that means upping the price slightly.
Mini LED's or not, having such extreme latency issues as seen in the review is just sad, makes it just a half-baked Mini LED monitor.

I mean for that pricetag design me a passive all copper solution that will stylishly protrude on all fronts from the monitor and keep the thing reasonably cooled. It is defo doable but yeah, just stick a "screamer" fan and call it a day... 3.5 grand, jesus.

Yup I sent it back within the 14 day returns, they tested it on a 24 hr cycle, and said it was the G-Sync fan, which is normal, said I was not happy and got refunded, this at the very least should have firmware to turn the fan off under light loads and on for heavy loads or when hot, this was on as soon as the monitor was turned on, and it was even running for 12 hrs once when the unit was switched off, didn't notice as door was closed, found it on next morning.
man the zoning with the mouse and if you are not dead center the brigtly lit objects will annoy me .... in such case really i prefer no local diming ... and i do not sit always dead on on my pc

but despite the crazy price and questionable technical decisions, this is a great step forward.
for all brands that source their panels, mini-leds have huge promise. this allows for hitting Dolby Vision+ levels of HDR (as well as HDR1400, Dolby is more than luminance) for many brands.
what Asus is doing is harder on smaller screens with smaller zones than 40+ inches with a higher pixel density and they should be applauded.
for big screens the manufacturing process has a larger pitch and should be more cost effective, but we'll see
but this is more expensive than OLED while inherently being a work-around and thus not as good.
right now i'm thinking of the 43" Aorus tweaked LG OLED panel. it blows this away in contrast and color and has true black where the pixel is turned OFF.
it's spec'd for 144Hz (really 120). that would be my first choice

yeah, the 43" is real but LG makes fewer of them while 48"+ has a greater profit margin.
if i had room for the 48" i'd go for it, but the 43" i have flagged cuz it's ordered less

All of these large-ish monitors with high refresh rates all have fans....Can't see $3500--ridiculous!
How about a 43" Quantum dot, MVA DisplayHDR 1000-certified, normal nits ~700 in WCG SDR, for....$850? It has no fan at all--completely silent! It's 60Hz with full anti-flicker hardware--no flicker at all! You absolutely do not need 144Hz to get no flicker...that's sounds like something from the old CRT days. Includes a 4 year advance-replacement warranty direct from Philips at no additional cost.

As you can see...people are already scalping these things...one 3rd-party Amazon seller is charging $1700+, so stay away from that--and look around for a supplier that is selling it for around $900 or less--and don't buy a *used one*! I use it with DP 1.4 and it supports Freesync 1 @ 4k. Prices and availability seem to be going to hell in a hurry for many things lately--crazy.
SDR is really good on the Momentum, G-Sync compatibility is also flawless, but it's HDR with a PC looks more like 400 than 1000, think I even saw that they mentioned in a test that it drops nits to somewhere down there, it also get's pretty hot when running HDR, didn't try with the Xbox.
Main 2 reasons for not keeping mine was it's size and that 4K is pretty hard to drive without reducing way to much on in-game settings.
Good monitor for a 60Hz VA overall though.
