Holy #$%^ finally. Looks like it performs nicely even though its a refresh it does perform alittle bit better.. God that cooler is sexy, cannot wait to see the 290x review.. only a week left till we see that?

Yup NDA lifts the 15th. The 280x while a tweaked 7970Ghz is still sitting above it and the 770 in the majority of games despite the 50mhz clock difference of it's predecessor and is 100$ cheaper than the 770. It should be lower priced in a month as Hilbert said as well. Great for people looking to find some very good value in the 250$-300$ range.
The 7970 despite approaching a full 2 years of age is still one hell of a card. It's admirable really how well it still does considering Titan and the 780. Once OCed the thing is still a monster.
For 1080p/60hz it's great value, especially once the price lowers. Those who favor Nvidia over AMD will also reap the benefit of competition. Though i guess since the 7970 does compete with the 770 you could say there has been competition but in most the 770 edged out by a one to a couple fps, little or not still held the performance crown. I would imagine or think that this would force Nvidia to lower the price of the 770, which is overdue anyhow.

so if I were going to get two 770s there is no point really since this is better and cheaper....

Here you go guys
Backplate on the 280x, nice
Edit: 280x mixing it up with the gtx 770, costing a fair bit less, nice. 270 similar performance as 7950 but for under $200. That's really good. My overclocked 7950 is at 280x stock performance so I'm not interested in these, but I'm expecting the 290 and 290x to perform a step above the 280x, will be interesting. Thanks for the review Hilbert.

Awesome card tbh. Easily competing with 770 and even comes rather close to 780 at times. It's like good refresh of old design. and 100€ cheaper to boot.
Now I'm really interested in how the new 290 cards manage games 🙂
