Full Hd is history now. I prefer 4k/2k 60 hz over Full HD 180 hz.

yes because your ATI 7850 OC can run all games just fine at those res.

wonder if normal eyes can see the difference my eyes cant see the difference from 120hz vs 144hz wonder if I can see the difference between 120hz & 180hz.. as there is quite gap also if combining with FPS.. reaching 180fps is another step, I guess that the reason why asus keep it on HD rather UHD many things in tech, is like from awesome feature that really have improvement to >>> marketing gimmick that people no longer can really get the benefit

Yes they are overdoing it with marketing here. They compete each other with the spec sheet (bigger = better). We still do not have single GPUs which can handle 4k @ 60 with maxed out graphics. Newer games are always more demanding than older. Let alone hitting 180hz. Except if you are playing LoL and the likes and still you can't tell the difference between 120hz and 180hz. I couldn't tell any difference between 120 and 140 fps on my PG278Q. It's clear those monitors are a niche towards gamers with huge pockets for multi GPUs configurations and the monitor itself. Personally I would be happy with 1080p 60 OLED 60hz and 4K OLED 60hz monitors with sensible prices. Guess I gotta wait some years.

180hz. For the demanding gamer who likes to play 6 year old games and new games at the lowest possible settings. What a sausage fest.

It seems we are moving from 144 towards 180 HZ, and I have no idea why.
Marketing. The moar the better!

I would prefer this over a 4k monitor myself. Smoothness and reduced input lag is way more important to me than higher resolution... I don't see myself going for more than a 24" monitor, or atleast not yet. Of course, I would need to have the fps to go with it.

240Hz or no GO! Come on guys, I am sure there are screens and driver electronics which can do that perfectly synced with backlight strobe having proper intervals. 1080p is great resolution. It has fully sufficient details, this resolution is not that bandwidth heavy on cable standard side. And it is not that heavy for GPUs to render at high frame rate if user wants that.

True that. With the new games its hard to have a decent fps without some settings off or low. @ 1080p TN panel & G-Sync the combination its not good. Good bye 1080p & TN panels.

4k@75hz. thats all i want.

... why do we need 50/60Hz ? Movies at 24 fps look just fine ! ... why do we need 120Hz ? 60Hz is butter smooth ! ... why do we need 144Hz ? 120Hz is already too fast, human eye can't perceive that Because reality doesn't have frames per second. There is one point of course in which detail and frames rate will be so high that our brains will perceive it as "reality", but we're not there yet. I've read an article once about this (don't ask for link because I don't even have any clue anymore where I read it), scientist did tests with volunteers and some high-tech equipment to discover if people were noticing motion that was only happening for fractions of a second. Apparently, even as short as 1/800 of a second -some- people still noticed the motion, but at 1/1000 nobody did. So I'm guessing that when our monitors will reach 800Hz the moving image will be indistinguishable from reality, for EVERYONE... but we're now at 180 so... far far away from the possible max.

At first I thought maybe this was not that great a step forward, but then thinking some more it came to mind that no FreeSync or GSync monitor can currently run anti screen tearing tech at the same time as motion blur reduction. Only one or the other can run - hopefully something they will sort out Soon with upcoming panels. So perhaps this 180Hz screen will with the high refresh have the effect of significantly reducing any apparent motion blur while also running its GSync anti tearing. If it works in this regard it could, for many, be one of the best available monitors available now. The sooner motion blur is eradicated the better: http://i.imgur.com/5NyTera.jpg (thanks tftcentral for images) The img below at 144Hz is marginally better: http://i.imgur.com/mKUQHgS.jpg The detail of the UFO starts to become visible So I am not expecting a miracle at 180Hz, but it is also a new panel designed for super high refresh, so I'd hope for a better 40Hz step up than these two pics show

That price... what is asus doing? Guessing this is a pro gamer monitor.

This is great news! We dont need to have 180 fps to take advantage of 180hz monitor -.- I'm I the only one that sees that higher refresh rate will solve (for your eyes) the screen tearing problem without freesync/gsync?
(...)I couldn't tell any difference between 120 and 140 fps on my PG278Q.(..)
That's not what slyphnier said.. He was talking about refresh rate and I can also notice the diference. Not how fluid the game look's but on input lag..

Well there is almost 2yr old Eizo with 240hz ok real 120hz with turbo boost trick but still.. at least its a VA panel and not 2000's TN.

Most pro-gamers hated the Eizo panel. There were multiple CSGO reddit threads where progamers complained about the Eizo VA panels that were being used at lans. It started a whole joke between Eizo sponsored players and ones who weren't. https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/3qjuml/spunjs_vs_get_rights_opinion_on_eizo_monitors/

And? Dont get your reply.. Va has great contrast, better angles then TN and can fake 240hz too.. The only bad thing or marketing is their smart insight and that sharpening bs. I dont use neither of those two on my ips foris.

The Eizo is probably decent, I never used it personally.. But this monitor (PG248Q) is clearly aimed at pro-gamers and I know most pro gamers didn't care for the Eizo. They generally don't care about TN vs VA/IPS/etc. They just want extremely low input lag and extremely high refresh rate. Most of them play with all the settings on low despite having decent graphics cards - to reduce on screen clutter. In fact some of them play in 4:3 still, BenQ's used to have a mode to switch their 16:9 to 4:3, I don't know if they still have it or not.

I'm not too surprised. I have a much easier time tracking things with 4:3/5:4 AR because everything is in the center of my vision. Don't VA panels still have serious issues with response times? I can live with a little lag but, bad overshoot makes me feel sick. As for this panel, I think higher refresh rates are a good thing regardless of if they can be pushed right now.

So no 36" UHD 4K IPS @ 144Hz monitor yet? Damn!
You better start contacting aliens to supply you with GPU to run games on 4k @ 144fps rock stable. Yeah, also ask them for monitor.
