I can never get any Asus software to work, the asus suite 3 thing just looks like this to me http://s18.postimg.org/3wruu9n5l/Untitled.jpg I know there is meant to be a whole UI there but I can reinstall it as many times as I want but it never frigging shows that front page. I get some errors of two away jpgs not loading too... Then the wifi thing I got with the motherboard never works, just says "function fail, check your network connection and try again". Their software has always been **** to be fair, bought two of their motherboards in the past and their software was more hassle than it's worth.

Why is there an iOS app when there aren't any iOS devices with NFC?

imagine leaving your room, computers locks ,no one can power it on. you enter the room,do a "magical"gesture with your hand wearing NFC ring-BAM-witness magic. or getting to office, you enter the NFC zone, your computer boots up and ready for productivity

You jest? The ONLY thing that should 'boot up' when you first enter the office is the bloody kettle!! You're not very good at the this office lark are you?

NFC has a range of just under 20 centimeters, so to make your "magical gesture" work you'd have to have the NFC sensor on the wall near the door, or alternatively on the door itself (although I can't see why anyone would want to do the latter, technically it could be done.) However, most walls are thicker than 20cm, so the device would have to be outside the room if you want it to work. Meanwhile, Bluetooth has a range of up to 100 meters for a Class-1 device, so the sensor that opens the door could be inside the room. What's so great about it being inside the room you ask? Well, if the sensor is inside the room that means you have to be in the room to touch the device. That would protect the device from anyone trying to physically hack or vandalize the device. What's more, virtually all smartphones have Bluetooth capability, compared to NFC where that technology has only rolled out relatively recently. Advantage: Bluetooth.

Yes, that motherboard should be able to support this ASUS NFC receiver. Any PC that has USB 3.0 should be able to support it. Since the Rampage IV Gene has USB 3.0 ports it qualifies. 🙂 Oh, and there are no dumb questions, only dumb answers.

Thank you sarge, the ASUS NFC came on sale for $14, i think its a good upgrade since it also acts as a 3.0 Y-port. I'll buy and fit 1 today.
