Shouldn't be a suprise. Earlier games were also "The way it's meant to be played". Plus they know how to dominate the market/have the resources to dominate the market.

I'm not surprised to see the first post from somebody not profiting from gameworks stuff. Couldn't be bothered with the AC games anymore, bloody cash grab anyway.

C'mon ATI owners, let us team green have a few games too.Last year was all about ATi games. And the fact that ubi games are crap is a well known fact and it's not caused by gameworks but by ubi themselves as they simply don't care about PC too much.Pity it's becoming a trend with supposedly AAA titles...bloody consoles and greedy studios not willing to spend money on PC porting

The PS4 version of AC: Syndicate is still very buggy (disappearing people, glitchy animations, invisible characters in cutscenes, etc, etc) so I have no hope for the PC version being any better at launch. We'll see. Whatever, if I decide to buy the game then it will be sometime after release so I know just how good a "port" the game really is. However, Ubisoft's track record on PC does inspire confidence...

They literally don't care about PC gamers. Ubi's Watch Dog code (PC version):
// This is PC only, who cares.

Expect the worst from them, we know how they "care" of us. :D

Reviews of this game have been pretty positive overall. A lot of people are saying it's up there with Black Flag in terms of quality. Obviously performance should be judged accordingly, but if you have liked AC in the past, might want to keep an open mind.

I do not like videos where someone calls environment with washed out textures: "rich, detailed, beautiful, ..." TXAA improves what? 4% of pixels on screen where normal AA would be good enough anyway? HBAO+ improves like 10% of pixels on screen? Soft shadows are cast over time on like 5~10% of pixels? But reality is that ugly low resolution texture remains ugly even if there is shadow on it. Detailed textures/objects >> properly antialiased edges. Because those textures and geometry are main factors affecting fidelity of environment.

Same, they lost me with Unity. Have been avoiding Ubisoft games since. Thanks, but no thanks. Performance issues aside, AC is a series that has long gone stale. They really should have called it quits and wrapped it up with Revelations, then released Black Flag as a new series about pirates or something.

Not surprised either, this forum is becoming a gameworks moanfest.

His HW is not strong enough, but those features mentioned work on AMD HW too. So his comment may not be against gameworks. And mine is actually saying: "While gameworks effects look good there, it is waste of computation power since rest of rendered geometry looks like 10 years ago." Yes, it is actually 10 years since F.E.A.R. came with probably 1st soft shadow implementation. And good enough lighting. 10 years since Quake 4 came with magnitude better texture detail including lightning, shadows, parallax mapping, ... This game does not look as good as they want everyone to believe. And I am damn sure that it would be total disaster on 10 years old high end system.
