we could once. but they realised it wasnt exactly good for business.
The ATI Rage Pro Turbo, a very popular early 3D graphics accelerator, shipped with 4 MB of SDRAM soldered to the cardβs PCB (which was a normal amount for 1997). However, the card could be configured by ATI with 8 MB, and for that, they put this RAM expansion slot on the card. You could buy the card from the factory with the standard 4 MB plus 4 MB more in the slot, or you could just get the base 4 MB version. Or you could even just buy ATIβs proprietary 4 MB SIMM and turn a 4 MB card into an 8 MB card
I`m i missing something or is there no way to use virtual super resolution with the new upscaling function ? I only own a 1440p monitor.
also how is the image sharpening on this new tech alone ?
Yeah I tried as well. It appears Halo Infinite only runs in Borderless, and not full screen.
Thank you for the suggestion
... I had not understood ... in fact he wants it to be full screen . Anyway just started this is what appeared on my screen, I hope it will help someone ...
However I would like to make a note to AMD and probably I will be present to the company because since Microsoft has implemented the use of the Window in game to have more' performance why' not be able to implement RSR also in These ?
While I have no need for it, it works well when I tested it.
It said to use lower resolution then native. 2560x1080 native. It said to pick 1920x1080 at first. But then it would not enable. I had to pick 1920x820 because it said it had to be less then horizontal and vertical.
Its rather a shame no Vega, Polaris, Vega, support. Maybe it will get added later when people make enough noise for it to be expanded.
We will prolly see a modded driver add this to these gpus.
cryohellinc:
Tested it loves it. Gives a lot of flexibility, especially with unoptimized games to really enhance the performance with minimal visual quality loss.
Great tool, just hope they will further optimize and enhance the quality down the road.
They can use - https://store.steampowered.com/app/993090/Lossless_Scaling/
Lossless Scaling is good but limited to only 60hz.
Why didn't we get a title that supports DLSS and have sliding images for DLSS on and off to compare to RSR.
Why? So you can justify your purchase of a 3090?
Comparisons have been done to death between FSR and DLSS, and you'd have to have been living under a rock not to at least have some inkling of what you get from these technologies.

Oof someone is butthurt or rocking a 1060. Tbh to have the hubris of showing a 6700XT vs a 3090 stock is funny when you dont show an Nvidia comparison of DLSS or Nvidias version of the technology in comparison to AMD's nightmarish drivers.
There would be no real point in using this with Halo Infinite anyway, the built in scaler is pretty great already. Better off just apply a touch of RIS if you wanted to sharpen it up π

If your not seeing lower 21:9 aspect ratio resolutions, you may need to create custom ones. For the 900p equivalent, you would want 2133x900. I had to do the same with my 32:9 monitor and create a 3200x900 to get the right aspect ratio π
List of couple other 21:9 lower resolutions to make peoples lives simpler
800p - 1896x800
720p - 1707x720

Thats awesome info. Thank you.
Boy do I miss my 32:9 monitor too.
Luckily wrong on both counts. It's simply a comparison that's been done to death, and another comparison won't change the outcome.
Besides, if you really want to know, I could buy hundreds of 3090's without breaking a sweat. Money's not the issue; dealing with stupid is...

Just turn Textures down in games, trust me the differences between Ultra textures and High (or event medium sometimes) is barely noticeable. And if the game has the option turn shadow resolution down too.
Not every game needs to be run completely maxed out to be enjoyed, a lot of it comes down too personal preference for instance I always disable motion blur, film grain, lens flares, and CA in games.

I agree, no point comparing RSR which, by its nature, should not be compared to DLSS, rather, it should be compared to NIS IF a comparison MUST be made.
FSR1.0 has been compared to DLSS and has been found wanting, not by me though, I played Godfall at 4K with FSR 1.0 set to 'Quality' with my GTX 1080 and it ran the game just fine, PQ was good enough that, in the midst of gameplay, I don't notice any visual flaws (unless I freeze the game and pixel peep that is).
FSR 2.0 would be a more interesting test against DLSS in terms of PQ, and I can't wait for it to be released, and hopefully, more games would support the tech.
In case people are confused with AMD Radeon Super Resolution when using 4K monitor.
1800p RSR = Ultra Quality
1440p is Quality
1080P = Balanced
720p = Performance

Those are not the ratios for FSR.
Ultra quality is 77%
Quality is 66%
Balanced is 59%
Performance is 50%
This means that at 4K
Ultra quality is 1663p
Quality is 1425p
Balanced is 1274p
Performance is 1080p

no rdna2 apus too
amd tries to make an open feature seem more exclusive by not allowing it to work on cheaper or older hardware and reserving it to new generations of desktop cards.

What the hell are you even doing here? Seriously? Go play with your POS GTX 970 and act like that card was never a fraud from Nvidia. And we will let you pretend Nvidia drivers are perfect.
