Ok first why would you ever use FRAPS in this day and age, for FPS counter? Shadowplay, Steam FPS counter, both better options
Really? Let's see, Shadowplay only works if you have an Nvidia card and the Steam FPS counter only works if you're playing a Steam game. Fraps works perfectly fine and on everything.
This right here. There's nothing wrong with using FRAPS.

I'm actually a fan of high framerates, and I would normally never say that 27-35fps is smooth, because for other games 27-35fps would be intolerable - in this game it does seem smooth at that low framerate. For a start they capped the framerate at 30fps, so the game devs obviously thought that this game can feel smooth at low framerates. (I obviously used the ini tweak to unlock the framerate). Yes, so during fights I saw 27-35fps, and gliding around and grapnel boosting around the city I saw an AVERAGE of 36fps, so you can see from that average that general fps is pretty good (at least for this game and how it looks at low framerate). FRAPS is fine for my needs, you can just press a button to get a quick average fps benchmark for any period of time you like, plus it's useful to have it display the fps counter - I don't need Shadowplay, don't want Geforce Experience.

That's great news, even a 3-5 fps bump in performance (say 10% performance improvement) would be welcome to me, as that would seem to push me above 30fps at all times. I will wait for this patch & put this game away for now.

Hopefully they get it fixed and re-released in decent shape Steam keys for it are still available and currently heavily discounted to around $14 USD which is around $18 AUD while retail copies here for console & PC were $89 AUD at launch

I got my refund from GMG and the game remained in my Steam library so I'll just play it then.

My last update to my previous posts about performance in this game. I've just fine tuned my final settings for Batman Arkham Knight, turns out some of the settings have a big effect in the game in comparison to only a smaller effect in the benchmark. I've gone with: 1600x900 (native res), Shadows Low, Level of Detail Normal, AA, Textures Normal (the highest), Rain Effect On, Light Shafts On, Debris Off, Fog Off. Everything's the same as my previous settings except the stuff in Bold (they were on max before). Gives a benchmark of 42 avg, 33 min. In game I've used FRAPS to benchmark & constantly gliding around the city & grapnel boosting I'm getting 42 avg. In street battles I'm getting 36 avg. No hitching and zero stuttering with these settings (and that's on an HDD)! My previous unoptimised settings I was getting 27-35fps in fights and 36 fps avg when gliding & grapnelling. So, decreasing Shadows & Level of Detail made a big difference actually in game for me - I didn't notice any decrease in graphics quality, although maybe I would have done if I did comparison screenshots. I'll still hold off for the forthcoming patch in August (that will come before the game goes back on sale), so I'll put this game to one side with the hope I can eek out a few more frames while maybe upping the settings once the patch comes in, for a better gaming experience. Certainly seems playable right now though for me. The story & atmosphere of the game look like they're gonna be good, so a shame not to wait for all the technical fixes to do it justice!

The game is already dead for PC crowd, even if they optimize it perfectly, the fact that a game like this can be released is beyond disturbing, and should encourage all to ignore it like a flame, shame i was waiting for it, was.

I think it's just gonna stop people pre-ordering (and instead pushing people to be buying in sales rather than on launch day!), and they're not gonna like that, so I think they'll get their sh*t together and start releasing games that are more close to be being perfectly finished, I think we've got to the crest of the wave in terms of piss poor quality releases.

whatever their next game, it gonna have to tick all right boxes OUT OF THE BOX launch day, after this mess it will never be forgotten, all of the sudden Arkham Oranges looks good.
