I just don't understand the market for any of these... a Bike i could kinda get right more adults use them and for longer trips to and from work and even to just ride around with. But a scooter, which i'd say is used by 95% children least from what i see in my everyday life. what parent would buy their child a 500 euro scooter when it can be had for a 1/10th of the price?

Getting around town basically, I mean we have cars with built in navigation. It's a means of transportation, having navigation ready out of box I think is pretty cool.

Actually, in big cities like Barcelona, Paris, etc. you can see quite a "big" amount of adults using battery powered scooters (e.g.). You can have one of these even on a 30 m^2 flat without taking nearly as much space as a bike or a folding bike.

More and more people are buying electric scooters and bikes. I have myself two electric bikes that i use at different times of year instead of a car, suits me just fine and no more maintenance/gas/insurance/etc. costs. For the summer time, or if i lived somewhere where it was mostly nice out most of the time (not where i live definitely) a scooter like this would be great. Why over the bike? Simple. Good electric bikes usually range $1000-$3000, you can find some cheaper, but they usually don't have good reviews. Whereas with this (and others), i could pay less and mostly get the same experience. And, they are almost always easier to store. I always have to worry that someone is going to steal my bikes at work (i have two different very heavy duty chains on it and even an alarm that goes off if someone starts moving it, and i still worry), as well as it's not the easiest of things to bring into my house, so i leave them outside in a locked shed, but sheds get broken into all the time as well. Whereas if i could get away with a scooter (again, my environment is a no-go on that) i could bring it in my work with me as well as in my house, since they fold.

What happens when the smart scooters turn sentient and start running down people in the streets?
Probably a chaotic couple/few hours until their batteries are depleted. 😛
