Gotta hand it to them: those are some very efficient APUs.

Why the "bad" guys have the best CPUs/APUs?

what about games, can i play wow decently on it?

The day Apple create a strong GPU for Gaming, it's over for everyone else. I can see an External GPU unit being created within the next couple years

Great HW, wrong OS.

Asahi Linux is coming along nicely. It's still an immature project but at least they're on a steady track to success.

I noticed this. How these ARM derived CPUs offer so much productivity performance per watt. If we can boot Windows on it, it would be hell of a good work top. I think gaming would still need PCIE to fit a proper GPU for over 1080p performance.

It's worth pointing out that performance-per-watt is highly variable. Try to get an x86 chip to run efficiently on a phone and it will fail miserably (ask Intel - they tried it). Try to get an ARM chip to efficiently run heavy workstation tasks (without being slow: remember, time is money) and it will fail miserably. They are very different architectures that suit different needs. Apple can get away with ARM in workstations because they develop their own in-house instructions micro-optimized for their system. It's not that hard to make a chip seem a lot better than it really is when the whole system is basically tailored to work seamlessly. That's why for the longest time, iPhone specs were practically crap compared to flagship Androids, yet performed as good (or better). That's also why game consoles have mediocre-at-best specs yet offer a pretty good gaming experience. TL;DR: it's not that ARM is inherently better than x86 (though there are arguments in favor of that) but rather, Apple just does a good job at optimizing.
I think gaming would still need PCIE to fit a proper GPU for over 1080p performance.
Yeah, Apple's GPU, while pretty good for what it is, just simply isn't big enough to do serious gaming. I'm sure if they scaled it up, they could make something capable of gaming.

M1 Max can run WoW in 4K at 100FPS 😀 So M2 Max will be like 30% faster in GPU, so 130FPS in WoW.
