That's like saying R9 280 was superseded by R9 295X2. Plus, I don't know anyone who is even remotely interested in the FX-9000 series. :/

My opinion? Amd schould stick to making there Apus! They dont stand a chance against Intel with the Fx series as things stand currently, The Apus however compete much better on account of the strong i-Gpu. Just dump the Fx series all together and focus on making a good Apu for gamers.Ive had Fx 6100,8350,and 9370 none of which I can say I was really impressed with.I was much happier with my Richland 6800k chip. I hope Amd is listening to its fan base, stick to Apus guys.

The exact reasons for why AMD decided not to introduce higher-performance AMD FX chips is unclear, but it is logical to assume that the company just does not sell enough FX processors in order to afford binning of high-frequency parts.

So basically they took their stock of decaying FXs, bumped the clock by 100Mhz and put a new sticker on it. Awesome :/

95W TDP is a step in the right direction.

I love the 95W TDP FX 8-cores, a nice advance for people with current AM3+ socket motherboards. (Like others have said, I'd stay away from those 220W FX-9xxx's...not worth the price premium or the voltage hassle.) People often for some reason don't realize it, but AMD FX 6 & 8 core cpus (not the 9xxx's of course) are very competitive with Intel on the i3/i5 stage (and often faster than comparatively priced i3 & i5 cpus)--and Intel sells a boatload more i3 & i5 cpus than it does i7's. My own thought on why AMD hasn't rolled out Steamroller FX cpus is because it will likely require a new socket--AM3+ might not be enough. Until it rolls out new FX chipsets, in that case, AMD *can't* release a Steamroller FX cpu. I'd very much like to see an FX chipset supporting both steamroller and PCIe3.x. The chipset/socket may be the holdup on Steamroller--at least I hope so. While I think AMD's APU stuff is fine for the markets it seeks, none of them offer enough gpu and cpu power to suit me.

To late AMD ....I jumped ship and went for i7 4790k DC couldn't wait for you anymore.

Seems like it's time to change my 4.6 GHz FX6300 for a 4.1 GHz stock 8370E. Can't wait to see what the E model can do.

I have exactly the same intentions myself.

I will have to disagree with your statement saying that AMD should stick with making better Apus/i-Gpu. It is about time for AMD to release a new CPU architecture, focusing more in per core performance to finally be able to compete against Intel or even surpass their current or upcoming CPU's in performance. While Intel can't compete at the moment with AMD's powerful i-Gpu's, it is the other way around for their Cpu's. If i remember correctly AMD's last CPU that was great and surpassed Intel was their Athlon series, until Intel launched their s775 Core 2 duo and quads. Since then about 8 years ago which is a very long time Intel was and still is the only way to go for us power users seeking for High performing CPU's. The Phenom II X4 was the last good CPU AMD released if i remember correctly. Personally i hate the current situation when i have to upgrade my CPU and Intel being the only way to go while current AMD 8 core processors with their great pricing sound good to the ear for an average user on a tight budget they are just too way behind on per core performance and with high TDP to go along with it. The lack of competition sucks for us users as Intel without any pressure from AMD is throwing at us minor upgrades in Cpu performance along with new sockets and chipsets almost every year. It's just sad for me the way things are for PC enthusiasts who love to upgrade their hardware frequently making them throw money away to Intel for minor increases in performance. The current state in this department is not that exciting for me any more, i mean i love upgrading to all new hardware and playing around with Overclocking but with all these minor cpu performance upgrades along with new sockets has made me lose interest and i find it a waste of money having to invest in a new Motherboard to get a new Cpu with a small percentage increase that will be almost unnoticeable in every day usage. The only thing left at the moment that is still exciting for me is new GPU's. I just love upgrading to each new series of GPU's when i can and at least that is one department that AMD is still competitive with their products against Nvidia. Above all we get very good performance increases of around 40% each new generation...... I personally can't wait until next year when most of the all new next gen games will start appearing along with the Unreal 4 engine. But first i want to get an idea of roughly how taxing they will be on the PC and their VRAM usage before i decide what single Gpu will be powerful enough to sustain at least most of the times 60fps at 1080p before upgrading my GTX 770 2gb.

wow AMD... I'm was a fanboy, for your processors anways.. My current chip is the 8350 and all I can figure you did with these is take the stock of current FX's you cant sell, made some adjustments, and slapped a new sticker on it. I'm assuming the E are just the chips that worked well at lower volts. This in no way cuts it guys... My rig is in need of a total overhaul and Ill be purchasing my first Intel desktop CPU and MB come tax return time... sad.. very sad.. and to think I squealed a bit when I saw the headline.. I have heard rumors AMD was secretly working on a new performance desktop processor.. I sure hope these were not those.

220W TDP, what. Maddening.

yea.. the fx-9000's were a bad joke... Same chip as the 8350, just higher binned and overclocked. Ive had mine (8350) up that high, while I did get it stable the heat even under water was rediculous. When you sell a chip with a warning that it will melt the VRMs on most motherboards and even on boards that can handle it you suggest rigging a fan to blow the VRMs, you should be put in timeout like a 2 year old. My sabertooth board was ok and I have plenty of airflow.. but if I was to keep it that high I would have needed a fan for the VRM's to feel comfortable with the board lasting. It didn't make a lick of difference for gaming (MAYBE 1fps) and only slashed about 2 minutes off of a clean, no ccache full Android compile.. so I just run it at 4.2.

new amd chips with different tdp and stock speeds this late in the game?

Which reminds me, any news on those future AMD CPUs that should supposedly arrive in a year and a half?

Hey I would love to see a Amd chip that can compete core for core vs Intel but like everyone is saying its not going to happen with VIshera, hell ive been supporting Amd since I got into pc gaming I would love nothing more then to see them surpass Intel! But seems like to me like they are making some mistakes, 1st increase your per core performance, 2nd dont just keep adding more cores,3rd and this is the Dealbreaker for most people-$$$$$$ Money....... My next rig will be a A10 7850k so while I really enjoyed my time with the FX 8350 and 9370 I had I wasnt really blown away with the performance thats why I made that comment they schould stick to making Apus, we all know the I-GPU is the most important in benchmarks and games and they are clearly kicking Intels ass with the Apus, am I wrong? When I buy a Cpu or Apu iam buying it for gaming strictly, I dont care what my cpu scores in Cinbench, STich fx, or any other of those tests, I want good gaming performane for my dollar and thats what Amd does best at the moment!

Well I'm at least glad that the prices are coming down. I'm going to buy me a 9590 (don't care about tdp or what other bs marketeers tout), just waiting for the chipsets that can better handle that chip; was waiting for the x99 & i7 5960x but my earlier combination of x79 & i7 3960x was such a pain that I don't want to deal with Intel anymore at this time.
