3900X out of stock 🙁
For me it is in stock. But after counting in VAT + shipping, it is more expensive than price in local shops. (which have them out of stock) No Win here either.

Get a 3700x = win 😉

I do not really need that much higher ST performance. I more want 50% more threads of 3900X. And I do not really care much if it clocks all 12 cores mere 200MHz higher than I currently clock all 8 cores either. I can wait for that chip. I am missing new ASRock's BIOS too. And after next week I am on vacation therefore I do not really "need" that upgrade now. But AMD is clearly missing sales. I expect that there are thousands of people obsessed with getting one, and if they can't get it soon, their obsession will weaken to point many will not buy it at all.

I would say high demand is a good thing. Nvidia certainly didn't suffer when Pascal was out of stock for weeks after launch. There was also a major mobo shortage upon the release of Summit Ridge, and early adopters like me had to wait up to a month for a mobo to go with my shiny new processor - it was certainly frustrating, but didn't stop me from buying. 😉

Huh? The 3700X has a lower boost clock, meaning, it has worse ST performance.

Just because a product is out of stock, that doesn't necessarily mean that is due to demand. Intel's shortages for example are hard to pin down due to demand. I think I recall Vega 64/56 being on short supply too, and that wasn't very high demand either (though, I think miners had a little something to do with that too). I honestly don't know if the 3900X is actually in high-demand or not. If it is then you're probably right, people will wait for it to get in stock.

I meant it in comparison to my 2700X 😀

One reason why the CPUs are all out of stock is because many scalpers have bought them all, and are trying to sell them for inflated costs on ebay.
I wonder how many "desperate" people are actually buying them from the scalpers?

Some buy them overpriced from where they can find them and i'm sitting here being picky ignoring all other stores that have it in stock and waiting on my favorite store to get it in stock.

Look at Mindfactory Sales Data - 3900X is 2nd best selling CPU!, they sold over 4300 Zen2 CPU's in 4 days!. 3700X sold 1780pcs. 3900x sold 1020pcs! 3600 sold 860pcs. https://www.mindfactory.de/Hardware/Prozessoren+(CPU)/AMD+Desktop/Sockel+AM4.html For reference the 12c TR 2920X sold only 110pcs while being cheaper then 3900X!. https://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/AMD-Ryzen-Threadripper-2920X-12x-3-50GHz-So-TR4-WOF_1279063.html
Grrrr. Germans ate all my chips. Seriously, big shops here did not have 3900X available even for moment. AMD should make many more, fast.

I'd imagine that the vast majority of those same folk will be able to wait a bit longer.

What good are these AMD CPU's if no one can buy one?

There are plenty of Ryzen 3k cpus out there for sale--just maybe not the one you had your sights on...;) Regarding the AMD store, the fine print explains that all of the orders run through Samsung's Digital River corporation--they don't ship from AMD directly--they go the Digital River warehouse and are shipped from there--all AMD-store product orders are apparently handled by middleman Digital River. Not exactly "direct," imo. Pertinent text: Shipment Times Shipment times above reflect expected transit duration once your order leaves our warehouse and you receive a Tracking Number. In certain situations, additional review may be necessary before we can confirm your order. In these cases, you will receive a notification via email, and we'll inform you as soon as your order's been confirmed. If the product was In Stock when your order was placed, it will be reserved during the review. DR globalTech Inc. is the authorized reseller and merchant of the products and services offered within this store. https://shop.amd.com/store?Action=DisplayPage&Locale=en_US&SiteID=amd&id=ThreePgCheckoutShoppingCartPage Anyone reading this have any experience with the AMD store?

I saw one person the other day who had 30 of the R9 3900X CPUs listed for 650 US.
I dont see what the point is. CPU buyers are not heroin addicts who need their next fix ASAP. Prices could easily be MSRP in a couple weeks. The only ones who cant wait are either dummies or those with broken systems.

not sure about the addicts part, some do line up in the rain to get a new one only after just buying the previous gen
