Are they becoming whole again? Seriously though, unless they remove whoever it is making all the dumb decisions, no amount of restructuring or funding is going to save them as a company. They really need to focus on creating products that people want and that sell themselves on their own merits, instead of telling people what products they want and trying to market them as such because that's nothing more than setting themselves up for failure.

Until there is an official press release addressing this matter, 100% click bait. EDIT: "...Not in AMD's press release..." There has not been any press release.

http://ir.amd.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=74093&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=2086554 It's ****ing anandtech man. While I think the site has gone down hill in terms of advertising all over the place, I highly doubt Ryan is going to ruin his rep by posting click bait articles with nothing to back it up. Regardless, I linked the press release from AMD's own investor relations site. Also there is literally nothing clickbait about the article or the title of the article. If it was like "AMD REORGANIZES TO SAVE ITSELF FROM THE FIREY FLAMES OF BANKRUPTCY" then maybe. But that's not what happened here at all.

I bet there will be soon, either to acknowledge this or squash it as rumours since this won't be making any investors happy which at the end of all of these things matters the most.

I like how this is the day before Nano reviews pop. Tomorrow should be interesting.

Its crazy how you guys are taking things: From AMD : Graphics tech, software, marketing, and decision making is being consolidated into a single division, pulling the various components out of a number of other groups in AMD. This will bring more force to the ATI/AMD graphic division... thats all.. Lately the graphics ( Professional and consumers ) of AMD had allready take completely the control on their own division, this decision was a long time awaited one .

Something needs to happen. Either fix the problem internally or sell the brand off to another company who will put it to good use.

It's not us. It's AMD. Who the hell gives big restructuring announcement in time of trouble and expects that people would not speculate? And why announcement in the first place? Last time I checked Graphics already had everything it needed under its roof, including Pro graphics, Computing and even consoles.

As you know how the group work in the inside .. You speculate what you want... in every serious mouth this a good news and is just that... in your it seems take another way .. The 3D graphism world, comsumer professional, suddenly is moving fast, way more fast that you can imagine.

Nor do I care if now Roy has his own toilet, and if Bob moved his chair closer to Lisa. So what is the purpose of this announcement? It's not like they are explaining "how the group work in the inside" as you've noticed yourself.

lol but I said nothing; good OR bad. YET 😀

For the response, i think i will just quote your own response ..
" Nor do I care if now Roy has his own toilet, and if Bob moved his chair closer to Lisa."
I think the only purpose is to bring more liberty to the graphic division.. you think whatever of it then.... I will let you the toilet story ..

Plan and simple: You can't teach an old dog new tricks. This is either furniture rearrangement, or spin-off preparation. Take your pick.

""We are entering an age of immersive computing where we will be surrounded by billions of brilliant pixels that enhance our daily lives in ways we have yet to fully comprehend,"" Hopefully after they comprehend it they will try to launch some graphics cards that aren't rebrands.

Finally maybe AMD has some hope to be saved, Maybe Raja Koduri will be the knight in shining armor who will save AMD from the hands of endless fool CEOs who turn AMD/ATi from (A Mighty D) to (All Most Dead) in ten years. Maybe AMD is still not beyond salvation, Let us pray. :vader:

This, this and this. For years they have been telling us what to buy. People expect powerful CPUs, they get APUs instead. Screw that really. What I dislike about them are the marketing ploys. Overhyping their own products and the obvious failure to deliver, misleading product names like the x80 competing with the x60(?) from its competitor. Piss off really that's crap. Then comes the stunts they do with DX12 how it was all a 'game of chess' and they're happy to see DX12 (NOTE: 1 DX12 BENCHMARK) make AMD cards perform so well. When in fact AotS uses AMD's strong point, ridiculously parallel async shading. Stuff like this has to stop. I am honestly disgusted by both AMD and Nvidia right now.

AMD's we enjoy confusing everyone strategy. GPU pulls CPU up, CPU pulls GPU up.~ CPU pulls GPU down, GPU pulls CPU down.~ GPU pulls CPU up, CPU pulls GPU up.~ CPU pulls GPU down, GPU pulls CPU down.~ GPU pulls CPU up, CPU pulls GPU up.~ CPU pulls GPU down, GPU pulls CPU down.~ GPU pulls CPU up, CPU pulls GPU up.~ CPU pulls GPU down, GPU pulls CPU down.~

Just so it's clear. The creation of RTG is about enhancing our graphics IP developments and not preparing for a spin-off or other such effort.

People seem to be doomy gloomy these days. In fact it was worse right before the Fury and 300 series were released.

I would argue the opposite. The 300 series is an overpriced re-brand imo, why go to the effort of rebranding only to cannibalise existing 200 series sales for a few months before the Fury? In my mind it looks like a cash grab and a staging point for setting up the MSRP of the Fury cards which, imo, are also overpriced. Sure, I love the new technology and all but that's not what sells graphics cards; price vs performance is king, always has been and always will be. The only time new tech sells more cards is when there are significant real-world benefits. Pricing the FuryX the same as a 980ti was a mistake, especially given the (lack of) overclocking ability. Pricing the 300 series so far above the 200 series was a HUGE mistake given that they are basically the same hardware. And that's the problem with trying to market to enthusiasts; enthusiasts aren't stupid and actually understand the hardware they're buying. Marketing tricks don't work, the hardware needs to sell itself at a fair price point. I think all this overpricing has been perceived as something of an insult which is why there aren't really any AMD fanboys left - even they know when they're being taken for a ride. AMD cards are monsters when it comes to GPGPU applications, why has this not been capitalised on? A missed opportunity perhaps.
