Anyway that's not important, time to see some benchmarks. Well once the GPU's are sent to reviewers and a bunch of NDA's expire I guess, surely there's something besides DOOM you can test these GPU's with and actually see how they perform in DX11 which is the most common used API in current games. 😀 (DX12 too of course for the games using that.) Course the results will probably not be as impressive but it'll be a interesting read I'm sure. 🙂 (No pricing info either aside from that slightly lower-end '56 model, curious but then again if it'll truly be something like 800 USD here in Europe after price conversion no wonder they're being quiet for the higher-end variants.) EDIT: Guessing 6, 7, 8 and 9 in the Radeon Software article are bulletin points. And there's the pricing after all near the end of the article, neat. 🙂 (Somewhat Estimated Price I guess ha ha, never know how the USD -> EUR price conversion is going to go and then there's general availability driving it up further still.) But yeah going to be fun reading the reviews for these, once available. EDIT: 4 and 5 are bulletin points as well now that I've re-read the article so it is Display Port 1.4 and then bulletin point 5 just happened to go right there. 😀 EDIT: So Wolfenstein 2 is actually on AMD's side this time as their co-operation with Zenimax and Bethesda probably allowed for, idTech 6 and Vulkan I suppose, though I think that was already announced for that game.

If it's any indication of which GPU will remain relevant over time. The retail 1080-Ti is 11.3 TFLOPS. 500$ for 13+ TFLOPS sounds like music to my ears.

Nice stuff! I cannot wait to upgrade from my 980Ti. Already got my Ryzen 5 1600 and juiced it up to 4.0Ghz with no issues at all. Hopefully i can sell my 980TI + my Gsync 144hz for a nice sum and get me some vega and a freesync instead. Time to fully support AMD again like the good old Athlon days :banana::banana::banana:

I wish i hadnt built my PC in 2016. I would so get the Aqua Pack and build based on that. Might still get a freesync 2 monitor and a Vega as my next upgrade.

I could never go back to a monitor but if Freesync starts making it into more Samsung TV's and maybe even other brands then i would an AMD will definitely be my next purchase. Likely be a while off for a start i don't have said screen yet, and none of these Vega cards are close to fast enough for me.

As someone who was really hoping against hope for them to do something great with Vega, I hear you and I'm really disappointed with the price/performance ratio, something AMD is supposed to excel at. Look, its one thing if you can match the 1080 and not the Ti, but it appears that the air cooled Vega 64 card will be a bit slower than standard 1080 and the LC model will match/barely exceed it and the 56 model * hopefully should* match the 1070. The fact that the power draw is so high that it takes LC to just barely beat a vanilla 1080 is pretty disappointing. They could have fixed all this with pricing though-- $399 for 1070 performance is "OK" considering the power draw, but $499 for sub-1080 performance at ~300w is not OK-- it should have been $449 tops for the air cooled and perhaps $549 for the LC model. This would be considered a more enticing but still fair to AMD, deal. You can find GTX 1080's all day on Newegg for $509. Other than the freesync thing, why on earth would you speed the same $$ for a hotter, lower performing card?

Remember the Fine Vine? Turns out AMD reads the forums, maybe even more than we would want, and now we have them trying to cash out on the hope that their product will get better with time. AMD Fine Vine Technology™ goes IOU: [spoiler] I find it curious that the company isn't being more aggressive about Vega pricing given that the claimed performance figures for the RX Vega family are no better than those of Nvidia's GP104-powered GTX 1070 and GTX 1080, cards that launched over a year ago. AMD readily admits that it's still playing catch-up in the high-end market, but it points out that of the estimated million cards that move per quarter for over $350, it now has two options for buyers to choose from where previously it had zero. That's an important step, even if it does seem like Nvidia's next-generation graphics cards could be arriving at any time. In my conversations with employees, AMD further defended its pricing decisions by arguing along the lines that Vega is an architecture for the future and that Pascal isn't. Whatever one might think of that angle, staking any large part of Vega's value on the idea that there are future performance gains coming from future software seems like putting an IOU in the box with every Vega card, and I think it's probably safer to appreciate any such gains when they come.
