I wouldn't find it overly hard to believe this, unfortunately, considering 7nm is so new and nobody else but TSMC is offering it. While the smartphone market is apparently showing some signs of losing its overheated state, it's not like it would disappear anywhere, meaning it will always eat a significant portion of the production capability. Other than that, both AMD's new CPU and GPU manufacturing will rely on TSMC, so it's not just Nvidia like in the old times. It's quite interesting we haven't heard anything about Nvidia's 7nm plans, but it could be they actively want to avoid a situation where they haven't got a reasonable stock to sell upon release, so they are taking their time. As it is, they've gone unchallenged with the 12nm process, so there's no hurry.
I'm looking forward to see what Navi could offer me, so I don't like the delay, but such things happen.

Exactly, I have seen that "rumor" few days ago. And saw as some sites took and reposted it as rumor, other did not even state rumor.
It is made up by them for clicks.

Not the first time it's mentioned that Navi will only be offered in the mid-end segment and not high-end.

I was thinking of buying a Vega VII card and go for a 4K monitor later, but it's available only on one shop here in Greece.
Since the asking price is 959€, I think it would be better if I kept using my 1080p Freesync 144Hz monitor and waited for Navi.

also the leaked specs seems suspicious... 8GB of GDDR6 on a 129$ product? how is that even possible with GDDR6 cost?

Generally right, only that the factor that drives up the price for Vega VII to 959€ will be the same factor that drives up the price for a 300€ MSRP Navi card to something closer to 400€, eventually.

I don't find him to be very trustworthy, he can be right about a few things, but he also can be wrong about some of the details, just like his RTX leaks.
The RTX leaks, he was right about:
- the names RTX 2080 and RTX 2070.
- the codenames TU104, TU106, TU116.
But he was wrong about:
- RTX 2070 having 7GB of VRAM.
- "GTX" 2060 using the TU116 core and having 5GB of VRAM.
- the prices and performance estimates.

Well, I do expect the price to be around 450€ the first days.
The thing is, I was considering going for a 4K system, but that would require for me to get a new PSU, the Vega VII and of course a 4K monitor. And the GPU's price made me realize that It's not actually worth it

That said I don't find it insane, even if I understand you meant it in the best possible way. 🙂
It's just there's been no motion on the midrange since, well 2016 pretty much. And Navi is likely at least 4-5 months away still. That level of price/performance is pretty par for the course historically speaking, after a generational leap anyway. It's our expectations that are pretty low given the GPU market the last three years.

Actually Adored is the only one who listed the cheaper Navi 12 at 4GB of GDDR6 memory, which makes more sense.

"insane" to me because 2018 and 2019 were miserable in terms of perf/dollar leaps. Vega wasn't anything special and Turing bumped up pricing significantly
even with a grain of salt, a 200$ 120W part on 7nm with GDDR6 is very exciting IMO

If true, that's a little disappointing. Those prices look good and we know nothing about their wattage or capability to OC, but I'd still like to see something with a bit more "grunt". I was hoping the Radeon 7 would be more of an "interim flagship", where the real excitement would be found with Navi.
But, the R7's Linux performance is in really good shape (actually better than Windows, surprisingly). If the RX 3090 basically ends up being the 8GB variant of the R7 with a hefty price reduction, I would consider getting that.

Im definitely skipping Turing and Vega and waiting for Navi. Until then i can focus on saving for Zen2.

As much as I'd prefer to stick with AMD, I can't see this RX470 staying in my system until October....especially when my system upgrade window is mid-summer.... There's no point in me planning a system rebuild in mid-summer, if I can't complete it until October. So, either I go back to NVidia or scrap my plans to upgrade until next summer, leaving my RX470 in place for another 16+ months....
Was really hoping to see Navi on the market in time, but such is life....

I think AMD will bea teasing Navi at Computex (end of May) and then releasing in autumn (end of October). So that is only 8 months away.
I am sticking with my custom watercooled Vega64 through out 2019 and then wait for high end Navi, at the beginning of 2020.

Radeon VII is only average 7% faster than 2070 and 6% slower than 2080. If they release that RX 3080 soon they will obliterate VII. It will surely be delayed 'till Q4 2019.

Thankfully my favorite racing simulator won't be fully released for another few months, but if AMD want my money in 2019, they will have to preview something before the end of March.
