Is it bad that I read that as Vega Founders Edition at first?

Founders Edition cards were affordable by comparison. 🤓

Isn't that very good for AMD? That's a 25Tflop FP16 card. The 13Tflop FP32 means that it has a core clock of 1.6GHz, and that's on a single fan card. GV100 will cost tens of thousands of dollars, and meanwhile this is faster than anything else on the market.

26Tflop FP16 i believe, I want to know how they got 16GB of HBM2(4 4GB stacks or 2 8GB ones)

They own a lot of major patents on it since they co-developed it with Hynix. They also own all of the interposer patents.

Founders Edition is way nVidia takes most cash from consumer market. AMD is not doing that. If someone buys this professional card for gaming, it is his business. Same as buying FirePro...

I'm glad I quit waiting and just ordered the rx580. I'm also pretty sure if the consumer version is going to be 8gb, it's probably not gonna be as fast as the 1080ti. Not that that matters much. The 1060 and 1070 are the better selling gaming cards for NVidia at the moment. I predict that when Vega finally arrives on the market it will be either upper midrange or lower high, so AMD will not have a direct competitor for the 1070, there will still be a gap from the rx580 to the lower end Vega. I doubt they will be able to cut down and sell Vega for less than 1070 prices. I also predict NVidia will either refresh or rebrand the 1000 series by then (possibly using gddr6?). The original 1000 series from NVidia was released May of last year.

That thing sure is long considering it has HBM memory.

Isn't this already faster than Titan Xp and 1080 Ti @ stock when comparing FP32 TFlops? That is already really GOOD! They just need to push it out to the market, and improve it, scale it up before Volta. As a business, this is a good direction for the compute segment and to bring in much needed margins and profits. It complements their HEDT, PRO Workstation and Server CPU business announcements. Those all go hand in hand. For consumers, we have to wait it out or just send a message to AMD with 1080 Ti purchases or wait till we need a reason to upgrade to Vega. So glad I got my temp 1060 to hold me over until I make the transition to 4K.

The fact they don't mention gaming @ all it's ahint VEGA is not great in gaming , and they made it "not for gamers" card , i am prety shure it's gaming performance is lacking.

In pure flops, yeah.. but Fury X was 8.6Tflops and 980Ti was only ~6 with boost. Nvidia's architecture has been way more efficient in terms of utilization, but Vega is new and has a number of changes that improve on that. I personally think it's going to trade blows with the 1080Ti in some DX12 titles and be slightly behind in everything else. It will probably be like $50-75 cheaper or something though.

They didn't mention gaming where? They showed Vega running Sniper 4 at the analyst conference - this particular product (Frontier) isn't made for gaming so I don't know why you'd think they would mention it for this press release.

If this GPU actually has overclocking headroom I wouldn't mind going back to AMD. Eagerly awaiting reviews.

No mention of Vega consumer cards. Even the Frontier ed no release date... just that they will be proving more details by "mid-June". So consumer cards not likely in H2.

Going by recent history I would say that is a safe assumption but one can hope.

AMD is taking so long to release the Vega consumer cards!!! Looks like i did well of buying a 1070 instead of waiting for Vega... It´s sad when we only have one choice and nothing more...

I hope AMD is reading comments. Especially from guys like us who have purchased Nvidia because we could NOT wait any longer for Vega! That must be killing the Vega development, product and marketing teams right now!
