Fantastic news. As gamers we need BOTH hardware vendors to be in good shape. Competition is what creates value.

Here's the problem, they only got a temporary green thanks to their leasing; the next quarters will have to show real results.

While this is good news, it's nothing to get excited about yet. It's only a small profit and a misstep could wipe it out rather easily.

That's true, the leasing granted them less than half of their profits. The problem is, while their profits have been significant, will that hold them over until next quarter? And, will they continue to make as much money from MS and Sony? Anyways, the end of the month is getting close. AMD tends to release new CPUs during October, so perhaps Steamroller will come out? Considering how much time and assistance they've had to fix up SR, I suspect that ought to be the best architecture they've released.

Keep it up AMD, we need you to be healthy to bring more competition. And by competition I don't mean a price war that will result to minimal net income. It sure makes me sad to see such a good tech company with lousy net income when I compare it the likes of Apple who sell mediocre tech with mega margins.. 😛uke2:

Green? In accounting it's either black (good) or red (not good) - green is not used, so the point is lost...

green does not generate profit.. it just lies there. company can be in great shape if there is no green. no green does not mean bad.
