Hmm interesting. This reminds me of the AGP days of graphics cards as Cowie as said. My Geforce 6800 was capable of unlocking anything.

Oh well i am out of luck, says the 4 compute shaders is hardware locked.

Checked on R9 285. 4 were hardware locked.

WOW this is an old trick I remember I would use some kind of special driver on my old radeon 9800se to unlock extra pipes in the gpu and make it perform very close to a radeon 9800 pro 🙂 hopefully someone can actually unlock them tho would be great for amd users.

I unlocked nvidia 6800nu to 16/6 pipes and gtx465 to 470 =) Good old days. 9800 was king of its time for long time as was 9500pro. It coud be unlocked to 9800 =)
