Could it get better? Maybe. Or not. Or worse. You just never know with AMD.
So funny to read something from an NV owner, whose WHQL certified driver didn't let Watch Dogs 2 launch or instacrashed it about 1-1,5 year ago.

What does nVidia have to do with this thread? Yup nothing. And AMD Zen2 CPUs wouldn't let Destiny 2 people play. If I'm going to be quoted with stupid unrelated topics, than I will respond to them.

i dont think many people messing with vrm frequency, except they doing some OC even so, some people still getting boost-loss and with default setting, then its mobo-maker-bios handling VRM freqs automatically right? thats why the test result have slight different between mobo while it might have some related to VRM freq. but i personally think user cant really do anything with "boost" difference, its not like OC which we can "tweak" to get more performance... i mean that AGESA is even limited to mobo-maker to make changes right ? if by simply changing vrm-freq can fix "boost", then some people should already figure out by changing to manual vrm freq and should already spreading by now. either-way we getting fix coming in 3weeks, so except some other/new issue, this problem is solved
I expect that automatic in all cases means minimum. Because higher frequency reduces efficiency and increases temperatures.

@jwb1 Clearly you have too much time to go around to spend your time on the forums hating on something. That not a hidden feature anymore. I have some free time right now and spend it on you. ๐Ÿ˜€ What I find interesting is why the hate. Do you own any of these products and did you have issues with them lately? It's ok to be a fanboy of something.. We all want to belong somewhere and identify us with something or someone.. Some people are identifying themselves with a football club for example having a drawer full of club scarfs and going to the matches to kick the other teams supporters ass.. They are angry people, angry with life and often not very highly educated. Your drawer is probably full of Intel underwear and I can understand you're getting a little nervous now your hometeam is sweating it's balls off after years of serenity and sitting on their asses not innovating very much. (This is just my observation of it). To be honest. I'm also a diehard fanboy and maybe not like you but I have posters on my wall of my wallet and my piggy bank. They are my idols and i'll do anything to preserve them. My first own computerbuild was an AMD Thunderbird, I could get some free parts from my grandpa that he considered as obsolete after barely a year of use. And with minimal budget I build my first PC (the previous ones he and my father build for me) After that I owned More AMDs because at that time AMD was just doing really well at making cost effective CPUs. Think about 2800+ Barton and the 939 3500+ performing well at a good price. After that AMD couldn't keep up very well and Intel came with great new generations of processors and I hopped over without shame to get myself a E6400 and replaced it with an E8400 continuing with the 3570K and eventually ending up with an 6700HQ laptop... because they were the best deal to be had.. Ryzen 2000 was a step in the right direction but Ryzen 3000 is just nailing the sweet spot price performance wise even with the little reduced performance they are just the better pick if you do anything other than JUST gaming next to it. I didn't hesitate for a bit and pulled the trigger and got myself an AMD 3600 and AM4 platform after many years having an Intel sticker on my case. The build was not problem free. I do have to say I had less trouble with most of my intel systems that were generally plug and play but AMD is smoothening out the kinks now. A motherboard swap and some bios updates further and my system is chewing through everything I throw at it. Intel is in some trouble now and you can see that by them lashing out and coming with weird marketing strategies that don't make much sense at all. Does that mean that one company is better than the other? well that just depends on the current line-up of products and your goals.. The line-up may change and leaderships positions also. Intel had a few really good years.. Maybe it's time for more competition now. Why would you hate on that? why would you take every opportunity to hate on AMD while it would even lower prices of your favorite home team's products... In all these years Intel had huge margins and they didn't invest in future development enough but made some people very very very rich. Where AMD has been fighting for it's life for many years and as of now has a much more sympathetic attitude in general and can work very efficiently. Intel is a sleeping Giant and will wake up sooner or later. Don't sweat it my man. You don't need to burn your Intel undies yet. Moral of this TLDR: Be a fanboy of your wallet. The situation couldn't be better for us consumers as it is now. Lowered CPU prices, lowered Ram prices, lowered SSD prices all because of healthy competition... We shouldn't hate. and if you hate.. you better have a damn good reason that you got trouble because of actually buying their products other than just reading other peoples experiences and spreading digital hate because of that..... it's kind pathetic... you could just wash the sand out of your vagina and get on with life. ๐Ÿ™‚ Don't worry be happy! Love you all Guru3D Forum members, nVidia, AMD, Intel, I want to say hi to my mom. Hi mom.

Thank you thank you, you're far to kind. But I am also serious about it. This man/woman (i assume it's a sad man, but assumptions are dangerous) obviously is not happy with it's life and finds an outlet just like any other hooligan would. I really think we can only cure the world from this kind of hate with love and attention. This man/woman needs a hug and some warm coco and someone that would spend a few minutes to listen to his or her misery. This kind of behavior is just a projection of other troubles so let's not all greet him/her with hate but show some love. OR maybe he/she has a hidden grudge against AMD for ruining his/her childhood.. and now he's/she's plotting his/her revenge to kill all people in it and paint it white with blue letters. Isn't it our obligation to embrace him/her with warmth and show there is still hope? for Both Intel, AMD AND our wallets. Or a last option could be that his/her favorite color is just blue... and well most websites are a bit flooded with red lately... <3 ON Topic: My R5 3600 boosts fine like many others. I'm happy they are coming with a solution for the people that have trouble now. My last ABB bios also raised me about 75 cinebench R20 points unexpectedly. I just assume over time performance will be improved a bit more. As of now my system is rock solid stable. Very happy with it. Next year upgrading to the 4000 series if they are as good as expected.

Wow. Okay. We're gonna stop trying to find deep routed issues here and just get back on the topic.

@s1DDy make that 70s, haha. @slyphnier i dont think he meant messing with vrm settings to fix it, but being a possible cause. i can get a car with 200 HP that can do +120mph. you think that car will do that driving at +10000 ft, while pulling 2000 KG? there are too many variables affecting clocks that "directly" arent under AMDs control, and after i saw one site listing vrm/power design/layout of all the 570 boards on the market, i see that as a possible cause in general, as most chips above 3600x might get enough juice to do much more than stock clocks. or just looking at pbo. with it on auto/on i would get higher V, much higher base clocks at idle/low load (never much below 3.6) and around 4ghz max. with it turned off, i get 2.2ghz at idle/low load, boost around 3.8-4 for all cores, and a max of 4.175, and at least 0.01V less. (both times using win low power/balanced plan) but i also saw 1.9 as the lowest number once, just cant recall fw nbmr/bios or win settings, so ill wait till the update before messing with settings again (to see those low clocks at ide again)

Thank you. Honestly those assumption based off topic personal attack posts are really uncalled for. And should be deleted. And here I am the one getting attacked constantly (and do you see me clicking the report button?) and things are being blown out of proportion and personal. AMD is a company, people. Not your family. And then they wonder why I call AMD fanboys the worst.

You reap what you sow? Honestly, I am getting a little tired of your agitated attitude? I suggest you let it go, these forums are meant to be a good, informative and fun thing. Anything else does not belong here.

Oh, so that's how things have become here now. Then this place has become trash as apparently even the staff think it is acceptable to attack people and go off topic. Do you see them letting it go? Nope.

You are making things really toxic now. You are free to enter and free to go jwb1. I would suggest you chill, relax and do some fun stuff. Step away from the forums a while. In a few days, things look different.

I was out of this conversation and it ran its course until people brought me back in. Whatever, perhaps I could tone a few things down, like calling out fanboys, but there are also a few others here that need to take a chill pill. You don't see me writing novels about people and getting personal.

AMD could have spared themselves a lot of grief and criticism had they advertised these cpus 100 mhz slower. I'm disappointed they did this. It's understandable though. With Intel hitting 5 ghz, they wanted to advertise as high a frequencies as possible. The only thing I don't like about my Ryzens are the voltage spikes I see at default settings. They (1200 and 2400g) perform better than advertised. I can set the 1200 to run at 3.4 ghz using the same power as default. At default it runs one core at 3450 mhz and the other 3 at 3.1. Overclocked, it will run prime95 at 3.8 ghz for 24 hours. It will do 3.9 ghz for an hour or two but it resets it's UEFI whenever the computer is restarted. The 2400g performs better than advertised too. With prime95 it averages about 3.75 ghz with default settings. I can overclock it to 3.8 ghz while using less power than default. It easily runs prime95 all cores at 3.9 ghz, it's advertised single core boost clock. It will run prime95 at 4050 mhz too but like the 1200 at 3.9 ghz it generates a lot of heat and uses way too much electricity. AMD, you don't need to be so ambitious that you'll expose yourself to such criticism by advertising your cpus so close to their limits.

@JethroTu11 im old enough to know there are enough times where "you" dont have enough info to see a problem. do you know how many cpus/machines were used to get data samples? what if the problem doesnt get to relevant numbers (above 1%) unless you have +1000 cpus running? to me there is a difference between a company not knowing about it/working on fix while preparing release, and hiding a "possible" issue. how many cars (basically all brands) all over the planet are being recalled for problems? and those usually cost a lot more to make, and they really get tested (lambo in snow). so unless someone can show info/data that this was a problem amd was hiding from the beginning, i believe their innocence until proven guilty (isnt it supposed to be that way?). at all i just flashed the new fw and it seems to help. V is now at least 0.01xx V lower when im in the bios, and cpu load now is less jumping around/stays longer. e.g. before it was jumping between 0-1/2/3% load (idle) multiple times within a second, now it stays at least for a second or 2, and overall seems to be "smoother". feels like they are just ignoring requests and thus less twitchy ..

AMD already got my Money Money Money in the shape of a 3700X. The boost issue Must be funny, but the ABBA patch should resolve it soon. However, In the rich man's world it would also be nice to swap it to a 3950X later this year. Ah, all the things I could do with so many cores... Then my computing experience would be Always sunny ! Too bad there isn't A single penny left for me to buy it... So I must leave, I'll have to go to sleep. GN G3D !

Save your pennies for Zen 3 mate. AMD explicitly noted they would be focusing on energy efficiency, and from that I can only assume they will shrink the I/O module to 7nm too now hopefully at 7nm+ which is responsible for 30% total power consumption of the current line-up. That would make a nice increase of efficiency and then think about slightly pushing core clocks a bit for a little bit of increased IPC on the new improved process. They already said the next series wont be focussed on increasing IPC much but mainly lowering power usage. Which makes me believe that they MIGHT increase core count instead. What I think MIGHT happen is something like this: 3600-3600X 6 cores -> 4600-4600X 8 cores 3700X-3800X 8 cores -> 4700X-4800X 12 cores 3900X 12 cores -> 4900X 16 cores 3950X 16 cores -> 4950X 24 cores at roughly the same TDP and prices as the current line up. This would be possible if the 7nm+ process pans out as expected, looking at Apples Bionic 7nm+ results. Ofcourse don't take my word for it. This is just assuming but it would be a logical next step for AMD and this would be really good for customers being able to dip into even more cores at the same price range since it will probably be the last AM4 line-up it would help with the life expectancy of your setup just upgrading GPU over time. Lets see what they come up with next year.
