Maybe this joint venture will lead to develop a blockchain architecture/silicon and lure mining away from actual solutions, and have those GPU available at a decent price. One can only hope.

Bitcoin moved to asics long ago , Ethereum asics where on the way in 2018 .... But the a*****les forked it to make em useless and keep the gpu mining going ....

I am not following in detail the block chain technology and what solutions are out there. Knew about ASIC and how it provides a better mining ROI, but forking was unbeknownst to me.

@anticupidon i have no crypto my self , every now and then i am checking on the news about it , if it passes to proof of stake and no other crypto take its place to keep the mining going gpus will be finally saved , there are a lot of alternative coins you can mine with gpus but they are normally not as profitable. The thing with the proof of stake is that they say is coming the last few years and i am afraid it will become like the winter in game of thrones.

5 years ago, I would have thought this too unbelievable to occur: AMD's Market Cap Surpasses Intel for the First Time in History AMD is now a bigger company, by market capitalization, than Intel. It may be close, but AMD has passed Intel for the first time in the company's history with a ~$197.75 billion market cap at the close of the market on February 15 compared to Intel's $197.24 billion. AMD's sudden market cap surge comes on the back of its blockbuster $49 billion acquisition of Xilinx, the largest semiconductor acquisition in history. https://www.tomshardware.com/news/amds-market-cap-surpasses-intel
