I haven't personally had a bad issue with ASUS RMA department, but I've only had to use them once. However, and a BIG however at that, is that I have heard A LOT of horror stories from folks who have (or have claimed to) use ASUS RMA department.
I've had a mixed experience with ASUS..... I've had 3 Asus motherboards fail, and they were absolutely horrible to deal with. They flat out refused to honor their own warranty on any of the boards... I had issues with a graphics card, and they basically bent over backwards to help me.....

^^My issues stems from something as simple as replacing a blu ray burner back in 2015 that was less than a year old. Long story short.. Was given the wrong address to send the defective product back. Took over a month for ASUS to receive it Repaired blu ray drive only lasted 5 months before malfunctioning again Asus refused to replace it

The ONLY Asus products I've never had an issue with....and own several of....lol With all the complaints I've read of Asus optical drives, I buy them happily....apparently more frequently than I should as I have several in a box not being used. I'm literally the only person I know (in real life), that has never had an Asus optical drive fail.....nobody else I know will touch them.

I have had good luck with the ASUS optical drives (DVD models in the last 10 years, but both Sata and IDE). When my ASUS drive failed after half-a-dozen years of reliable use, I took it apart, cleaned the laser, and put it back together, and it still works. I used to rebuild CD and DVD drives that were dead. I'd just wait to get a pile of like-model drives and just replace, repair, and clean parts until they worked again. Usually 60~80% of drives could easily be repaired with basic tools and some time. From what I saw in ASUS DVD drives, they're decently well made - better than SAMSUNG ones and LG ones (Dell used to use mostly the LG models for CD and DVD burners, and CD / DVD readers w/o writing, LOTS of those failed). So yes, I'd definitely order another ASUS DVD burner if needed, they're a good reliable drive that works with a wide range of readily (still) available dvd / cd disc formats. Apologies, this is a bit off-topic here. Don't be like me and go off-topic folks 🙂
