Vega really needs to die, it was bad, it still is. Just let it die, AMD.

Vega is fine. People judge it based on the "high-end" desktop GPUs, but the architecture scales up really badly. It's actually pretty fast and efficient for APUs.

Zen3 apus will probably have navi gpu, it has to.

How is the 3700C different from the 3700U (just curious).
Undying:

I'm with you there... but I think that sadly it won't be the case. The 5000 series APUs with probably have Zen3 + Vega still, but the 6000 will have navi for sure.

I read somewhere recently in the last month's time that the APU's for up-and-coming generations will be a mix of lower-end units having Vega, and better ones having Navi. Don't hold me to that quote exactly, but that was the gist of it.

Hopefully you're right.

I wonder how overpriced these models will be.....

It's getting beaten by Intel in the APU market so i'm gonna have to agree that as of now it needs to no longer exist. Hopefully next-gen AMD APUs will be better.

Unless you know differently, it's getting beaten by far more expensive chips, usually ones with a hefty cache. Of the ones that aren't a lot more expensive, Intel's lead is pretty minimal. For a relatively old architecture, Vega has aged well. Replacing it is a good idea but it doesn't need to be. On DDR5, Vega would get a substantial performance lead, but, it's likely AMD will ditch it by then.

Do we know how much the 4800u costs?

When it comes to laptop parts, that's a bit harder to find. I was actually referring to desktop parts since data there is more reliable, but ironically it's tricky because neither AMD or Intel have modern desktop parts with an iGPU that are direct competitors. The 3400G is rather outdated (it's basically an early 2018 product) and is a performance tier above the i3-10100. It loses out to the 10400, but it's also a lot cheaper than that.

About my original question... Any difference between 3700U and 3700C?

I think they will do pretty fine in a Chromebook

Where is it getting beaten? The only comparison I've seen showing AMD getting beaten, utilized a high-end Intel Tiger-Lake processor and an AMD mobile processor with Vega3....

I haven't done much research, and i know that people don't like linus tech tips, and i understand that, but they competed the 1185g7 against the 4800u, with Vega 8, and was besting it by a pretty decent amount in games. I'm really not that interested in APUs so as i said i haven't done much research into it but i really have no reason to expect LTT is specifically fibbing these numbers.

Why the discussion over performance on laptops and even gaming on top of it? AMD Announces AMD Ryzen and Athlon 3000 C-Series Mobile Processors for >>> Chromebooks <<<

^^ exactly, 99% of the working loads would take part in the browser. So please, those APU will do just fine.
