nice move, but this will step on the dick of Navi laptops...oh wait...full fat Navi won't be available for mobile until this time next year. depending on the price, i may well keep my 7700/gtx 1070 laptop for another year - it can still play every game out when i'm not at home.

This is a smart move. AMD can focus on server and desktop this year then port Zen2 / Navi to the laptop APU's next year. Seems wise given how little man power AMD has.

What I thought was interesting is that these AMD cpus all have higher base clocks than the contrasted Intel cpus (except one, which is the same), and they all have more cache, as well.

No doubt. AMD's architecture is obviously very efficient. I bet we are going to see some large bumps in the laptop APU's for Zen2/Navi variants as 7nm should bring in more efficiencies.
