12600 is about 10% faster in games then a 5600x but the z690 mobo is way way more expensive and also ddr5 is also more expensive then ddr4. And let's not forget about the power usage during load. I am also inclined to think that my b die ram 3733 cl 14 is enough to close the gap between the two cpus with a much lesser price tag. I would sure like some big site to also investigate the effects of high quality ram in a price per frame benchmark.

They can barely make enough DDR5 for Alder Lake, can you imagine the shortages with Zen4 added to the mix?

I don't have the exact quotes, but didn't RAM manufacturers say they predict shortages to last throughout this year and possibly into the next? It's not just Zen4, but Raptor Lake as well. Honestly, I don't see it improving in the near future.

It won't be imo. As they release "empowered" version of Zen3 for AM4 with DDR4.
Zen4 will be PCIE5/DDR5. im pretty sure.

ddr5 is for people who don't care about the cost.they're pricey,and so far can't outperform top ddr4.
but that was rather likely even before they released.
my b-die kit will serve me for another generation if intel allows for ddr4 and amd don't.

well atm i have a 1600 i was planning a 5600x .....but considering the 5600x costs 270-280(eur) and the 5800x 320 (eur) the 5800x became a no brainer ....but atm i am like "HOOOOOOOLD ....HOOOOOOOOOOLD "waiting to see what the 3d cache will bring to the table ! Then will make the final decision! either way the update for me will be HUGE! Already have the mb and keeping the ram :P

Probably. But let's remember how screwed up is the chip market today.
In all of history, there has never been a year so bad for the PC. And 2022 will continue the trend of 2021, for at least most of the year.
