CanardPC is a trusted source. so 3.6/4.0 is 99% sure

Sweet, if this is the 8C/16T version, I wander what we'll see from the 4C/8T version... 😀

Pricing is what will truly determine if this is exciting or not. It's nice to see AMD is back again.

People can finally upgrade their quad-cores without getting another quad-core. You can keep your Kaby Intel, this is more exicting.

I am also excited (not hyped) about Ryzen. After having a look at Intel's roadmap today I am really glad AMD pulled this rabbit out of the hat. Not just for the sake of competition but for bringing a promising new architecture that can only improve over the next few years. From the public demonstrations I have seen so far, I think Ryzen won't be a complete fail this time. IMHO worst case scenario is a mediocre sigle thread but great prize/performance multithread processor. At this point I think we can already thank AMD for preventing Intel to bore us to death while squeezing our pockets. If Ryzen had also decent single thread performance and good price could seriously force Intel to push their roadmap. Note: If Intel's roadmap is true the only exciting news for the advanced desktop user seems to be a six core 14nm tweaked kaby-lake in Q1 2018, and in normal conditions (meaning without competition) I guess it would not be affordable. We'll see Skylake-X, but I think thats targeted to a reduced niche of enthusiast users with money to burn. On the other hand, I think Intel is bringing real benefits to battery life for laptops and convertibles with Kaby-Lake in Q4 2016 and Cannon-Lake (10nm) in Q4 2017

Looks like Zen will be my next upgrade then! I agree Intel is starting to bore us to death with 4th,5th,6th,7th gen core prossesors......Lot of people are cheering for amd this time around, Lets do this guys!

Beast mode. This is the first time that I feel I've got a proper upgrade path for my system. The whole platform seems it will compete in price with the mainstream Intel offers (no quad channel or crazy amount of PCIe lanes), and a lot of the presentation from AMD suggested that Ryzen parts will compete with the price equivalent i7's. Lisa Su specifically said that a Ryzen 8core would be a better alternative to the 7700k, so I can see it being around ~$350. The IPC seems to be Broadwell-E/Skylake, but if it really has a 4.0GHz boost out of the box and double the threads, it will be a serious upgrade both from the single core performance and the extra threads for me, even with zero OC. My only question now is how high it can drive memory.

If there is a 6 core 12 thread version coming out, Ill upgrade. I cant afford to go 8 core Zen anytime soon. I will never go back to another 4 core 8 thread cpu. My last 2 have been 6 core 12 thread cpus.

f*ck yeah, can't wait to upgrade. Go AMD.

Yeah, at this point I'm basically 100% getting Ryzen when it launches. Even if it's not much cheaper than Intel.. AMD making all the right moves with this processor.

How on earth can you even say that without first knowing the prices. I think there will be many versions of the 8/16 and the bottom one might be affordable. Maybe they start out as 3.4 chips all the way up to 4.0. So you buy the Ryzen 8/16 3.4 @ 200 pound and OC it up a little. It'll be between 200-300 pound btw cause i have my sources. 🙂

If Intel roadmap holds and if Ryzen end up offering stock 3.6-4Ghz 8c/16t with an IPC close to Skylake (and hopefully a good overhead for overclocking) and if the most expensive Ryzen processor is under 450$ and if there is no major issues with hardware and/or software (it is a whole new platform after all) and if WW3 and/or Skynet are finally not happening this year .... 2017 could be incredibly exciting for AMD and for all of us. From a moral point of view I truly hope AMD won't be the underdog anymore for a year or two at least. They need a brake and some cash, Intel need a lesson and we need R&D (and jobs 🙂 ) all over the place

Factor in the price of the board, ram, and cpu, and probally h100i replacement as I doubt corsair will release an AM4 upgrade bracket, its not gonna be that cheap. I may wait for a later revision of Zen to drop as I will be making 4x my income come oct of this year and could afford a 8 Zen core then. My 3930k setup is doing pretty damn good for its age still.

Still a little underwhelmed at the chipset but the processor is looking the part. Can't wait to see boss mans review.

From the pictures it looks like the same retainers as AM2/AM2+/AM3/AM3+.

When is the Official launch date for Zen? Meaning when can we go to Micro center and pick one up?

This is awesome news. Final product benchmark in multithreaded applications vs 5820k at 4.5Ghz will define if i upgrade or not. Very good news, and very exciting stuff
